Overview
Ginnungagap (Deity)
Ginnungagap is one of the four Eylúðrian primordials. He is commonly thought to be the primordial of chaos, though some consider this false. He is the protostar which Yggdrasil orbits and is thus lacking a “true” physical form, or at least one that can be observed. Worship of him is very taboo and even outlawed in some realms, though common within the four orders of Seidr, as it is he who gives them their power.
The screeching abyss, the chaos among order
Appearance
Ginnungagap's physical form encapsulates the protostar and all the light that emanates from it.
10¹⁰ kilometres (approximate size of a protostar)
Family
Symbolism
Eye, waxing moon, raven
Powers
Incredible cosmic power, unusually high chaotic composition
Unable to bypass or control light/shadow that is not of his own making
Rituals
To show devotion to Ginnungagap and gain its favour, one must travel past the edges of the known world and survive its judgement.
Ginnungagap treats its followers like pets, taking good care of them and happily fulfilling their requests.
History
When the world began, it was just Nilfheim, Muspelheim, and The Screeching Abyss. But eventually the energies of the other primordial gods began encroaching, and Ginnungagap became smaller and smaller, until its influence was reduced to the boundaries around the world, merely a shadow of what it once was.
