Rituals
Prayer Before Study
“Veltharion, Keeper of the Ivory Blade,
let my mind be sharper than my pride.
Grant me patience for repetition,
discipline for failure,
and the wisdom to know that ignorance is not shame—
only refusing to learn is.
Let my hand be steady,
my circle unbroken,
and my ambition tempered by understanding.
I ask not for easy power,
only the strength to earn it.”
Prayer Before Battle
“Master of Sword and Spell,
stand beside me where thought becomes action.
Let training speak louder than fear,
let discipline hold where courage wavers,
and let my body remember what my mind has taught it.
If magic fails, let steel remain.
If steel fails, let will remain.
If I fail, let it be because I was tested—
not because I was unprepared.
Let me fight as one worthy of what I know.”

History
Veltharion and Arcanus' last duel - Arcanus had challenged Veltharion to several wizards duels over the course of a couple of months in an attempt to show him up and earn more followers each time Veltharion had just barely brought the match to a stalemate, on the occasion of their final duel, Arcanus was engaging in his usual boasting before the event but when they approached Arcanus said something quietly to the old god, and after his face became a wall of stone, for the rest of the duel any time arcanus would begin to cast a spell Veltharion would appear before him and back hand him across the room shouting at him to do something to stop him, when finally Arcanus yielded Veltharion referred to arcanus as a three bit carny from a two bit carnival, and that he should come back when he learned something useful
Notes
Is the patron god of the Stanzgarian battle academy
Thinks that all wizards, mages, sorceress and the like should hone their bodies as much as their minds lest they become useless when their magics fail them
Where Arcanus represents raw talent Veltharion represents training and technique, what this boils down to is while Arcanus just knows every new spell as if he were it's maste,r Veltharion spends the time to learn every possible iteration and use of a spell making him truly know what it can do and how to use it
much like bowlog, Veltharion is so old he's started to evolve as a person, a rare thing amoungst the stanzgarian gods
Common Sayings
“Earn the page before you turn it.”
“Steel before spell.”
“Correction is mercy.”
“A closed book is sometimes a blessing.”
“Power without discipline is just a faster way to die.”
