Overview
Qereni Democratic Monarchy
Structure
Democratic monarchy
The Council (considered royals) and the Representatives (of the people) both have equal power.
A monarch is elected as a figure head from the Council.
Process
The electoral process of the Representatives.
One representative per every 10,000 people within a regional area, with the country having 47 subregions. The numbers of the reps range between 200-300. They're elected region by region, with the people of each region voting for the rep(s) that best matches their interests. The Reps must come from/have resided within their region for at least 5 years. Anyone could poll to be a rep. This electoral process is done once every 5 years. Reps currently in office can be reelected, but only to a maximum of 4 times, meaning the maximum occupancy for any given seat is 20 years. The highest occupancy ever held was 15.
The electoral process of the Monarchy. Candidates are polled from the council of Leaders, the form of government just under the monarch, the advisors, the senate, who come from three great unions, the Tuscamoira, Walakii, and the Aipakyo. The role of monarch is a lifelong deal, so there will be a period of three years after the call for removal of the previous or after the death (as the monarch is not necessary for the functioning of the government) for the members of the three great bloodlines to begin their campaigns.
The previous election did not go as smoothly. During the war that had just predated the removal of the previous monarch, the people gained a strong affinity for the youngest member uprising to the senate, a 18 year old girl named Aiyana from the Tuscamoira union, the newly appointed leader of Wakisakee (within the southern warfront of Tuscamoira land) who was not allowed to be put in the poll due to her age and fresh chiefhood. Aiyana had been a key figure in keeping moral steady during the war, she herself had gone out and distributed rations on the frontlines, food, water, and housing to the poor, all from her own personal wealth. Aiyana was different from the other members of the senate, as she had been lost as a baby, and grew up within the forgotten mountain village of Ho River, and was only found a few years earlier. Aiyana had a clear picture of what her people wanted, and with or without clearance from the council, from her own wealth, she would provide what she could. This made her a controversy among the senate, they did not see her as one of them.
The people adored her, and the majority of younger voters refused polling, wanting to elect her as their Queen. And the people did, the senate bowed to their wishes, and Aiyana, humbly took the throne. The people titled her Aiyana Clearwater, a title to honor her transparency and humble demeanor.
The council.
The council of leaders only has 60 people acting within the political seat, 20 from each union, one chief from each tribe. The term council is commonly used to refer to just those 30 members, but techincally, the council covers the entire union of government within Tuscamoira, Walakii, and Aipakyo. They are removed when no longer deemed fit to make decisions by the joint efforts of the council, the senate, and monarch.
The leader is the individual of a house deemed most fit to lead, leadership is often passed along the lineage.
