QSD-10e Audio Receivers (Io)

Item Type

Privatized Noise Emitters

Description

A now defunct model of Audio Receivers created by Amalgamations Communications LLC, the company responsible for the Qionic tech that has become commonplace in the late 21st century.
This product was requested by an executive in the PentaCore Conglomerate, who commissioned this piece in memoriam of his late daughter, who loved to listen to music and was fond of wearing a TV Head in public.
These Audio Receivers were very niche, even in their heyday in the late 2020s to the early 2050s. This is because these Audio Receivers functioned more like consumer headphones rather than the military grade audio transceivers that Amalgamation Communications' combat division were known for.
Regardless, the few that knew of this product love it for its compatibility with any technology capable of producing noise (Read: Music/Videos), its above average Qionic audio quality, and its ease of use compared to the later generations of Noise Emitters, which have an extremely complex system for such a simple piece of hardware.
This particular copy of the headphones was obtained by an SRVU Dissonant that resided at the authoritarian paradise known as Heaven's Tomb. She allegedly purchased the Audio Emitters from the Shattered Net, the rogue network independent of the Corporations' wills through illegal access of the Outer Terminal, a nexus point between the careful curation of Heaven's Tomb and the authentic chaos of the outside world.
The Dissonant uses them mainly to listen to music and obtain information from various servers, whatever that may be.

Lethality

  • Since this device was made for the purpose of inputting auditory stimuli and outputting it as Qionic Waves/Sound waves into Metal Suits, this device isn't lethal to the pilot in the slightest.
Similarly, when a Drone uses these headphones, it also isn't lethal to them, as they don't even have the threat of eardrum bursting as a factor in their use.

  • That being said, if there happens to be a human in the vicinity of the Audio Receivers when on full blast, this otherwise innocuous device can be lethal to them, especially if they don't have anything protecting their ears.

  • If Audiohazards like Hypnos' voice in 195 Kilohertz, the lure of Mindbite's ambient waves, and the signal emitted by the GAEA defense Drones are inputted into the Audio Receivers, then they can either pain, cripple, or kill the wearer depending on the intensity, frequency, and special effects of the noise.

Physical Attributes

Texture

  • Originally, these headphones were a bland metal texture that felt like stainless steel despite being made of Trassium Ore. While the owner tolerated them, she did not find them appealing to touch, which was important as the owner had a peculiar habit of massaging and caressing her head, which of course included her headphones.

  • The QSD-10e Audio Receivers were created in the year 2029, although data leaked from CyberMercs had lead to the schematics of the Receivers popping up in various smaller corporations, who had attempted to push their product out faster in exchange for an inferior quality.
