Eileen was raised in what is now Resta, but was adopted by the royal family. She didn’t plan on becoming Queen, but her adopted brother, August Cantrell, died before having children of his own. Eileen and Mae- August’s wife- talked it over, and they came to the decision that Eileen was best suited to take the throne, even though she was technically not of royal blood.
It took her time to earn the people’s trust, but they respected August and Eileen’s parents' decision to adopt her all those years ago. They never treated her like an outsider, so, with time (and Mae’s unending support), Eileen earned the people’s hearts.
