Traits
Having orginated from a large chain of islands, orcs have becomes excellent mariners. Their seafaring and shipbuilding skills are legandary and many companies hire orc crews to transport their cargo. In addition to their propensity for the sea, the islands that orcs call home have forced them to develop their diplomacy. Orcs tend to be shrewd but fair negotiators. They make excellent businessmen and merchants and some foreign powers employ orc diplomats to serve as their liasons to foreign powers.
Orcs can succumb to any of the myriad weaknesses prevalant in mortal races. Like their humanoid kin they are susceptible to the crimes of greed, intolerance, lust, ignorance and dishonesty. More specifically, orcs tend to have a very simple world-view. Their culture has been shaped by their peaceful interactions with both the trolls and the goblins and as such they are often too trusting in their diplomatic relations.
Orc society is extremely reliant on its domination of The Shipping Sea and its subsequent stranglehold on international trade. Should the balance of naval power shift in the region, the orcish economy could crumble.
Culture
As a worldly and widespread species, orcs follow a variety of religious and personal beliefs. These vary from major faiths to codes of honor to monastic pledges. In the Orchalum Islands the most commonly worshipped diety is Adraghe, god of the sun and fire.

The judicial branches of government, which includes the Court of Superior Justice and its regional and local equivilants are tyically filled by troll members of society.
Orc technology is reliant on the technological savy of their goblin neighbors. Second only to Imperia Aeternum, orc-kin society is the most technologically advanced in the known world. In addition to advanced airship designs, orcish shipbuilders are among the finest in the world. The orc fleet is the largest and most formidable naval force to sail the seas; it vaies from schooners and small merchant vessels to warships bristling with aramaments and impressively fast and durable frigates.
-Merchants
-Sailors
-Engineers
-Mercanaries
-Blacksmiths
-Carpenters
-Woodsmiths
Orc society sits comfortably at the top of the economic totem pole. Because of the Orchalum Island's central position in the Shipping Sea, most major nations bordering the region trade amongst one another using orc merchants as a middleman.
Through complex economic and diplomatic agreements as well as alliances of convinience the orcish economic juggernaut has its hands in nearly everyone's pie. Orcs trade in raw materials bought in bulk from major powers like Imperia Aeternum and luxury materials from afar brought to their ports by the long reaching arm of their navy.
In nearly every major port in the world there is an orcish presence. The red and orange flag of the Orchalum Islands is recognizable to nearly every civilized person in the world and most sailors can claim to have worked under and orcish captain or among an orcish crew.
