Overview
Craftborn
When an individual reaches a certain level of Sensecraft Mutation, they become a Craftborn. The races are each associated with a different type of Sensecraft.
Behavioral Characteristics
Due to their widespread distribution and means of propagation, Craftborn speak the same languages, wear the same clothes (within reason), and generally have the same culture as the humans around them. There is, however, a notable divide between those who were born into the race and those who became one through overuse of Sensecraft. Communities with natural-born majorities may even look down on those who don't fit their standards.
Craftborn who were born that way are sometimes called "nats," short for "natural," or "gens," short for "genuine." Those who were born human but became Craftborn may be called "lopers," short for "interlopers," or "sods," after an old police shorthand for mutation cases, "SOD" (Sensecraft Overdose).
Due to the permanence of the transformation into a Craftborn, many worry that they will soon outnumber humanity. Currently, they make up about a third of the world population, but the distribution varies wildly by region.
When Fully Mutated
Once a Craftborn succumbs to the maximum level of Sensecraft Mutation, their sentience is a matter of frequent debate. They appear to act only on instinct, but are not always violent. Formal study on their mental abilities is often met with controversy, considered equivalent to human experimentation by some.
Individuals may elect to specify what should be done with them in the event that they reach this stage; custom requests can be made within reason, but generally the options are to be either held in captivity until a possible cure is found, or euthanized. Those deemed to pose a threat to others may be executed regardless of their decision.
