Beliefs

Teachings

The Church encourages its followers to pursue life with the individual in the forefront of importance, to take care of one's own needs and wants before another's. However, it is also encouraged to follow the faith's tenets as they see fit, and as such members of the Black Altar are known to be incredibly patient and relaxed compared to other religions.

Places of worship

Many holy grounds are built in the image of the titular Dark Church, with blacks and grays being incorporated into the color of the structure, often consisting of high sloping archways and towering spires topped with the Church's holy symbol.

Worship services

Bi-weekly prayer and reflection occurs every Monday, typically lasting only an hour as an ordained Cleric or Paladin of the Altar reads from the Book of Dusk.

Obligations

Very few obligations are thrust upon members of the Church of Ibbum, with one of the only actual considerable tasks being to engage in Amor Sui.

Initiation process

No actual initiation is required, but official recognition in the Church requires submission of proper documentation, such as name, age, address, etc., to allow for mailing of summons, event pamphlets, so on, so forth.

Rituals

-Vita Aeterna Noctum: Devout members of the Dark Church ritualistically light, pray around, and snuff 6 black candles (one for each of the deities) at precisely 12 o'clock midnight, on the eve of twilight.

-Amor Sui: A weekly ritual that requires faithful of the Black Altar to take at least 2 hours of the day to pray, reflect, or engage in activities that pleasure and/or relax the individual.

Holidays

-Ibbum Nox, The Darkest Night: On the final day of the final month, in the dead of Winter, when the sun's light shines weakest on the land, The Black Altar convenes to celebrate in the twilight all that Ibbum embodies. Festivities include consumption of Knellberry wine, communal dances, and the ritual snuffing of black candles in Ibbum's name.
