Zerutiarra
A pantheon of deities in pairs of male and female where the set rule one aspect of life
History
There is no history of how this religion came about. Some of the temples have existed for a thousand years. There are old texts that date back 700-900 years telling the same stories that are told today.
Beliefs
Balance in life. Each person has his or her own part to play. You must strike a balance in your life between work and play. No one is perfect, so if you commit a bad deed you must make up for it with one of equal goodness. When culture is out of balance, life fails.
When the Raven Queen returns, the kingdoms will be united again.
One who can hear the world is born every thirty generations.
There are temples in every city. The great temples to the gods of life are at Pallavicini, Friar's Gate, and Ataraxia.
Candle lighting ceremonies to represent the stars, blessing of iron, Blessing of land/crops/harvest, Blessing of new life
Traveling to the Great Temples at least once in your life. Giving to the needy. Serving the gods by working at one of the temples.
Life in the here and now where everyone gets along and there is no poverty.
Traditions
Initiations are only for the friars and priestesses. Babies can be blessed at one or more temples.
taking a white candle outside at night and praying to the night goddess. Cutting a piece of fruit or tuber into two pieces and planting one half in the day for the God of the sun and one at night for the Goddess of night. Bathing in the great pool of the Sea temple to bless fertility.
In the order they appear on their calendar: New Years Day, Feast of the River, Spring Equinox, Maiden's Eve, Summer Solstice, Mid Year Day, High Harvest, Autumn Equinox, Festival of Candles, Winter Solstice,
Women wear a steel band with a chunk of iron to symbolize marriage. Men wear a band of steel with a chunk of crystal to symbolize marriage.
Putting food in the forests after harvest and on winter solstice to appease the forest gods.
Maiden's Eve is when all the unmarried women go to bathe in the river or sea to bless their fertility. Men clean the house and prepare the feast in hopes of impressing a maiden.
Every three years during the festival of candles shooting stars can be seen falling into the mountains. On the years with no shooting stars, people gather in the streets and at the temple with candles to pray to the star gods that they will return on time. When there is a meteor shower, people blow out their candles and celebrate with "Drunken Cow". This is a meal of beef marinated in white wine and spices then roasted on an open flame.
