OLDER CONSIDERATIONS
V1:
Applies consistent terminology for all vehicles in AAF inventory based on alphanumeric designations. The first series is the Vehicle Type, the second series is the Mission, and the third series is the number designation.
First series letters:
A-Air (Denotes that this vessel is meant for air travel, when the difference is meaningful. You will not see this denotation on vehicles that state they have wings.)
B-Boat (This is a boat, smaller than a ship.)
C-Continuous Track
D-
E-
F-Fixed
G-
H-
I-
J-
K-
L-Land (A land vehicle)
M-Maritime (Denotes that the vehicle is meant for marine or sea travel.)
N-Naval (Denotes that the vehicle is considered "Naval" in nature. This meaning as changed considerably after space technology, and now means any non-landbased strategic vehicle that has endurance capability.)

S-Ship (A strategic asset, larger than a boat.)
T-Tilt
U-Underwater (Travels beneath the surface of the water.)
