"It could be…" her mood lifted, she was hopeful.

"Oh, stars, if it is a history class, I'm going to kill someone," Emrys groaned. "I need at least one class where we don't have to take notes. Although, who knows, maybe it'll be the worst PE class ever." She shook her head, as if to get rid of the thought, then looked up and grinned. "Hey, there's The Arena!" Emrys exclaimed, pointing at the hulking building in front of them. "It sure lives up to its name."

"Maybe," Loren walked into the building, looking around.

“If there isn’t an Olympic-sized pool in there I’m sueing,” Zuri jokes.
But in all seriousness, she thinks. There better be water.

"Ha!" Emrys laughed and pushed open the doors. "I'll help you!" She stepped into a sort of lobby area, with chairs arranged around a central stage, maybe for teaching, on one side of the space. On one wall to her left was a large spiral staircase leading into the ceiling. In front of them is another door, leading further into the building. "Um… this is not what I was expecting. Where are we supposed to go?"
(Who's going to be the teacher for this class?)

"It'd be cool if we had a pool," Loren agreed. "I'm not quite sure, though…" she glanced around nervously, not wanting to go somewhere where they "weren't authorized."
(I can, if nobody else wants to.)

(You can be this one and I can be the next one.)
“No signs, no nothing?” Zuri asks, nudging Emrys aside so she could see in.
It was not exactly what Zuri was expecting, but maybe her vision was a bit fanciful.

(Oki, sounds good.)

"Shouldn't there be a teacher here?" Emrys asks, crossing her arms. "I mean, we're new. We have no idea where to go. And shouldn't there be other kids?" She glanced at the spiral staircase and frowned. It sounded like there were people up there, but she couldn't tell if it was other kids or some secret teacher meeting.

"Perhaps…" suddenly a group of kids, laughing and talking burst through the doors. they were second years at the school, and obviously knew where they were going. "hey!" loren grabbed one of the students by the wrist, who turned around. "what do you want?" he said, annoyed. "could you help me and my friends? we're first years, and don't know where to go…"
the boy wrenched his hand for loren's grip. "ugh, first years, so annoying," he muttered as he went to rejoin the group. where the kids went wasn't too helpful either, half of them went up the staircase and half of them went through the second set of doors.

"So… they were friendly." Emrys watched the second years disappear, then looked back at Loren and Zuri. "Should we go up the stairs or through those doors?" She glanced between the two options, torn.

"I don't know… i'm just going to go up the stairs," loren decided. if she went the wrong way, maybe the staff would be helpful.

"But I think we should go through the doors. I feel like it is the more logical place to put the first-year class." Zuri argues.
She really didn't have a logical explanation, but she had a feeling.

"Okay then, let's go through there then," Loren switched directions.

"Cool." Emrys looked around one more time before following Loren towards the doors. "I wonder if there's going to be an arena behind these doors, because so far, the name is totally wrong."

"Yeah," she replied, flinging open the doors. The double doors led to a hallway, whose flooring was made of beautiful cedar planks. At the end of a hallway was a doorway. Walking down the hallway, Loren looked around, and without a second thought gasped. The magnificent entrance had set her expectations high, and the room exceeded her expectations. The floor managed to be pretty, and though it was obvious that been a sports game here of some sorts, there were no cuff marks anywhere to be seen. A chandelier hung from the high ceiling, and the bleachers… the bleachers actually looked comfortable, she thought.

"Wow…" Zuri gasps. "This school isn't messing around."
"I'm assuming this is probably the arena. It looks like a very extravagant gym."
She suddenly perks up and sniffs the air, looking both happy and mad somehow. She can definitely smell a pool, but it's chlorinated.
"Can you guys smell the pool too?" She asks.

"Yeah. I was kinda picturing some super sketchy place, but this is actually nice!" Emrys looked around, taking in the area. There were a few kids sitting on the bleachers, chatting amongst themselves. She turned to Zuri and sniffed the air. "Uh… I think so. Is that a good thing?"

school

"Yeah, I do," Loren replied, sniffing the air. The small breeze created by the automatic air conditioning carried the scent of chlorine. But then again, if it didn't have chlorine in it, it didn't really have a smell.

“Well, there’s water, but it’s CHLORINATED,” Zuri pours.
Pool water is the worst. It stings her eyes and it tastes weird. Plus, so many kids pee in pools. Just the thought of being in that water makes her shiver.

"Yeah, so? All pools are chlorinated, unless they're natural," Loren pointed out. She herself didn't like the fact that it smelled so strongly, but she'd gotten used to it.

"Well, with the fanciness of all this," Emrys gestured around them, "I would've thought they'd have a super fancy, indoor lake or something. I guess not." She shrugged and started towards an empty section of the bleachers. "We should probably sit down," Emrys said, glancing at her phone. "Class starts soon."

school
@saor_illust school

"Yeah, okay," Loren sat down in one of the closest seats and pulled out her phone. This is why, in times like this, she had an offline game downloaded on her phone at all times. To play games, of course. Plus, they didn't use any data.

“Y’all don’t get it!” Zuri grumbles as they walk over to sit on the bleachers.
“I’m a siren. I like the ocean. I do not like CHLORINATED pools.
She flings her bag off her back and on the bleachers with a thump.

"Oof, I forgot about that," Loren said, laughing softly.

"Oh, yeah. That would be a problem." Emrys looked around quickly, then leaned towards Zuri. "I could probably change that. As a thank you for getting us out of homework in the future. Just say the word, and poof!" She splayed her fingers in an imitation of an explosion. "Indoor ocean."

“When the time calls I will definitely take you up on that offer.” Zuri responds with a grin.
(I forgot, who’s doing the teacher this time?)
