Lacie tried mimicking what Tess had done.
I'm bored so...Character Chat!
"Wait!" Tristan stepped forward and peered down the hole, "Can I come with you?"
group
(It's on the ceiling btw)
Tess poked her head out of the hole. "You guys stay here, just in case that cat comes back. I'll be back in a jiffy."
(Oh oops)
Tristan looked rejected and muttered, "I wanted to go on a cool adventure…"
group
Tess sighed and stuck out an arm. "I suppose there's room for two trouble-makers up here. Wha'dya say? Wanna peek into the life of a thief and dirty street rat?"
"I already do that!" Tristan grinned happily and climbed up after taking her hand, "But yeah!"
group
"Follow me and stay close" she told the boy as she pulled him up. "Who knows who else is here."
"Yes, ma'am!" He followed her, barely making a sound.
group
The two silently crawled through the vents, Tessa keeping an ear and nose out for anything of interest–including their captors. Fortunately–or unfortunately, however you want to look at it–she found nothing. "Keep an eye out for a room that might have our stuff. They usually store them in boxes in offices."
"Okay," Tristan whispered back peering through the vent holes and smelling the air, searching for any sign of life or the smell of bronze metal.
group
Tessa paused next to an opening on the left, pressing herself against the vent wall on one side if the opening and signaling Tristan to do the same. People, she mouthed
Tristan nodded and push his body gently against the wall.
group
It was two men conversing.
Man 1: "You really think they'll pass the trials?"
Man 2: "Doesn't really matter either way. As long as we get some data, that's all we need from them. Honestly, I don't really care if they die or not."
Man 1: "Humph. I hope that little brat that calls herself the Golden Huntress gets cut off. Serves her right. She's the reason I took this job."
Man 2: "Don't get your panties in a twist. Data first, revenge later."
They walked out of the room, and Tess peered through the vent. There, on the table, was a set of ear pieces, a locket, headphones, and brass knuckles. She nodded at Tristan and shoved the opening open, catching it before it fell to the floor. "Careful," she warned as she hopped down. She opened her arms to catch the boy.
Tristan jumped down easily, "You're the Golden Huntress Lady right?" He asked as he reached for his brass knuckles and headphones.
group
"Yeah" She picked up her ear pieces, sighing happily when they attached to her skin directly behind her ears, hidden from view should you not know where to look. "He's not the only person seeking revenge against me."
"Oh, what did you do?" He asked putting his headphones around his neck and clipping the knuckles to a keychain holder on his belt loop, unsure if he wanted to know the answer.
group
She searched through filing cabinets out of habit. "I did what I had to to survive. They locked me up for research. I showed them my teeth."
"Your..teeth?" He asked then realized what she meant, "Oh, you attacked them?"
group
She shrugged. "Yes. And they weren't the only ones." She pulled out a file and flipped through it, calloused fingers carefully skimming over the papers. Her expression didn't change. "I never claimed to be a good person. I made my thoughts about that clear."
"Hmm," Tristan looked at the papers as well and then huffed, "I can't read." Then he thought about what she said, "I've attacked people too, I once accidentally killed someone."
group
She stopped at one paper, fingers hovering over it, and her lips pinched together. "My kills… Were purposeful." She said in a whisper. She snatched the paper and tucked it in her back pocket. "But enough about that. How about we find some food, yeah? I smelled chicken on our way over here." She tried for a small smile, but it was clear whatever she saw in the paper had disturbed her.
"Is..is something wrong?" Tristan asked, worriedly.then felt his stomach growl and he let out a sigh.
group
She ruffled his hair. "Nothin you need to worry about. C'mon, lets get that stomach fed. I bet the others are hungry too."
Tristan gave a small smile, "Okay!"
group
She lifted him into the vent, pulling herself up right after, and led him to the kitchen. There, they snatched up as much food as possible and headed back to the others.
Tessa jumped down, reaching up for the bags of food.
Tristan handed the food to her and waited til it was all down before he jumped down
Back in the room, Anna waited for them to get back. she'd heard people start to pass by the room, but never open a door.
"If I had to guess, lots of hallways and rooms with other experiments and scientific procedures and stuff. It's probably not as nice as this place." She said, a small attempt at humor.
