Me: Well, I don't know how to write people. Or draw people. I really just… Don't like people. Also, foxes are cool, and you have the personality and demeanor that I desperately want to portray, so you're kinda the so-called ideal version of me. I don't want to be an actual fox, but writing myself into the position of a confident, sweet, really cool angel fox helps my brain out a lot.
Kira: Hm. Well, I mean, I can agree on the not-liking-people thing, I guess. But if how I am if how you want to be, why don't you just kinda copy the personality and actions that you write for me? Confident, and all that jazz. Try the personality on!
Me: Trust me, Kira, I would, but… It's hard. I get anxious fast, and I just can't bring myself to be confident around people. I overthink things too much, and I just kinda… Get weird? Around other people? I don't know if that makes sense.
Kira: Yeah, I get it. It's okay. Someday, you'll gather that courage, and you'll be able to be confident in what you do. I believe in you. It may not mean much coming from a being that you write, but we both know that I exist as a separate being than you. All of your characters- Pox, Goldie, Honeyblaze, Lizardheart, Featherstep- everyone. We're all a part of you, and we'll always be there for you when the real world leaves you behind. Pox is the confidence and power that you want to exude. Goldie is the responsibility and intelligence that you wish you showed more often. Honeyblaze's suffering is your way of getting revenge for your mother's actions, and Lizardheart is the child who had the courage to fight back that you've always wanted to be. Featherstep is the emotion, the vulnerability, and the suffering that you have felt all your life, and her story reflects how you've imagined that weakness pushing you to blossom into the strong, independent, truly happy individual that you long to be. I believe that these characters are not all fiction, and more yourself now as well as reflections of your future. You'll be okay, Zoe. We're all walking with you, for as long as you live.

I am going to write more of me speaking with my characters here, I think. This helped me out, quite a bit.
I'm actually writing a story of a character that is self aware (his name is Kaiholo). I plan to make him,,,,very,,,,angry with "me", lol. It's really weird and complex, but if he met me irl i know he'd throw hands. I wanna think that he'd ask me why I made him blind, but i think he knows in the story.

Infano towered over me, looking threatening as hell, but I knew that he wouldn't hurt a fly. He looked deep in thought for a moment, his dark eyes looked me over quietly, and his tail shifting from right to left before stopping when he spoke: "..If you really are the person who made me..why? And have you made everyone else too?" He looked nervous and, slightly bewildered, I mean who wouldn't if they just got told that their whole life was made up by someone else. Especially when that someone else is 5'6 and looks like they haven't slept in a month.
I sigh, before taking a deep breath and looking up at him again. I could tell that he was anxiously awaiting an answer. "Because.." I tried to keep a serious tone, but what I was about to say made me inevitably smile. "Because I'm a sadist and I torture my characters sometimes, it's from character development so it's necessary. And yes, I did make everyone else in your world, go spread the news"

Malcolm: Grins, presses a button that causes a second nuclear holocaust, then pulls out a gun and aims at me. No humans survive. Shoots the gun.

Me: No idea. A talent, maybe?
Golder: Hums again. Well, since you appear aware of my nature, shall I bother asking if you need my assistance, or should I just kill you now so that I may explore your world and murder at my leisure?
