Alright bet so i got another another here-
Abarat: my lil stuck up princey here is a jerk for a reason. He technically never had parents? He was actually born from water (it was a science experiment don't ask). The royal family, yea, they took him in, but?? They never actually treated him as kin. They only took him in bc he was going to grow up to be very powerful. My poor baby here, his brain was messed up bc something went wrong with the experiment. The royal family gave zero (0) fucks. So, Abarat suffered mentally for most of his childhood (that doesn't sound bad but it actually is and it can really damage someone long-term, so shush) and he grew to never truly love anyone bc they probably didn't love him anyway.
In his "teenage years", he was cold and distant until he met a certain woman (who was a just an ordinary traveler). He knew she was different cause she always spoke her mind. So, he began to open up to her and trust her. She tried to do the same. Abarat was finally starting to heal mentally (and physically) and beginning to learn about trust and love. But not for long. His dear friend, who impacted him so greatly, killed herself. She left a letter to him, and him alone. When Abarat walked into her room and saw her hanging at first he was confused and in some serious denial. When he cut the rope and checked for signs of life, however, he lost all hope and his heart shattered into a million pieces. Poor baby found the letter too, and he's vowed to never read it (spoiler: he does-) bc he doesn't wanna relive that. He has vowed to never get close to anyone so he doesn't suffer again.
His is not as bad as Tyler/ Kore's and Kani's backstories but hey. It's still bad.

I probably torture my characters a bit by having them constantly be misgendered. It's my little bit of saltiness to add, I guess, I'm kinda making a statement about how being trans or NB is valid while also adding plot points, but idk.

OOf that's sad, i think the worst I've done is murder my characters brother in font of her, and then have her watch as the rest her com unity was whipped out slowly while she looked on unable to help.
