Rantaro didn't mind the embrace, allowing Kokichi to hold him close. He still didn't understand why the other was so worried about him, but he found what the other was doing to be calming to an extent.

“ Better?” he asked softly
"A bit…" Rantaro sighed softly. "I…I dunno…what's wrong…with me…"
“you're stressing over nothing..”
"Nothing…? Ko-Kokichi…Kaito…might die…! I-is that…nothing…to you…?!" Rantaro asked with tears forming in his eyes. "You…you do care…r-right…?"
“ yes I care! But right now I'm worried about you as your health!”
"But…why…?" Rantaro asked. "I-I'm okay…a-all things considered…"
“ I don't think you are..”
"Wh-why's that…?" Rantaro asked him. "I…I should…be fine…"
“ your not, and it's okay to not be okay..
"I…I know that…but…aside from…the effects from…the anxiety attack…I-I'm okay…" Rantaro argued. "R-really…"
“ okay taro..”
Rantaro sighed softly. "Except…I dunno anymore… I-I don't…even know…if I'm okay…"
“ I'm not sure either but in going to help you through it”
"I…I appreciate it…" Rantaro said softly. "I…I dunno…wh-why…but…I-I, um, kinda…feel like I might…cry…"
“ then cry taro..”
Rantaro nodded and allowed himself to cry. "I-I thought…that I was fine… I-I'm just…really scared…again… I…I hate it…"
“ I know, I know. Let it out taro.. “
Rantaro let himself cry for a while. He stopped saying anything to Kokichi in the process, but he was generally upset. He didn't want to say much, but he wanted reassurance and comfort from Kokichi before he broke down again.
Kokichi was there to give him everything he needed
Rantaro gradually began to calm down with Kokichi there, but everything took a lot of energy from him, so by the time he was calm again, he was completely exhausted.
“ why don't you go home and nap for a bit?” he sad softly
"I…I wanna…be here…for Kaito…" Rantaro argued. "And how…would I…get home…? I-I'm almost asleep…just standing here…"
“ I'll take you there, and kaito has people watching over him “
"I-I know…but…I…I wanted to be there…when he wakes up…" Rantaro sighed softly. "I-I really…need to sleep…so I'll stop…"
“ here, how about I stay with you here and wake you when he wakes up”
Rantaro nodded. "Good idea… I'm gonna nap now…" he told the other, incredibly exhausted by then.
“ okay.” kokichi said and laid him down
Rantaro fell asleep only seconds after he laid down. He didn't have the energy to keep himself awake any longer, so he simply slept.
Kokichi kept an eye on rantaro and a ear out about kaitos condition
