Random Contemporary Fantasy One on One (Closed)

"Next time, we can try a restaurant you like." Lyra ate a few other pieces of tuna before she moved onto her eel and octopus. She had seven or eight different kinds of fish- not including the three different varieties of fish eggs. It was a good sampling of the best food the ocean had to show, she knew. She'd lived there for years. "What kind of restaurants do you like?"

Lyra helped herself to most of her red snapper, considering the answer. "Maybe we can go over to your house then. If that's not too forward or anything." She hadn't dated a grounder in ages, and they seemed to have some very different ideas about things than the merfolk. It was important to make sure she wasn't crossing any boundaries or anything.

"Oh, guess we've already been over to your place. Maybe you can come to my apartment and cook me something. Or is that rude of me to say? I haven't dated many of you and I don't wanna break any unspoken rules or anything." Lyra dug into her food when she was done, waiting for an answer.

Lyra smiled and waved away Nykidia's reassurance. She was a siren. She knew how to take care of herself. Besides, nobody hurt the staff at Alina's anyways. Too much fear that whatever organization they worked for might get banned. "Don't worry about it. As long as you don't try to use me for information, we'll be fine."

"Then we're all good!" Lyra smiled winningly at Nykidia and then dug into her sushi with renewed gusto now that she knew where they stood.

Lyra finished a few minutes later, tossing some cash down onto the table to cover the meal and yanking Nykidia outside. It was dark outside, the edges of the sky a dark purple that bled into the larger dome of midnight blue. A beautiful night. "Can you tell me where we're going now?"

Lyra pouted but when Nykidia said they'd get to fly again she nearly squealed with glee. "Totally! Pick me up! Pick me up!" She pressed herself into her girlfriend's arms, waiting to get lifted again.

Lyra was smiling brightly as they hopped from building to building, watching the sky and the clouds and the tiny cars and people moving far below. This was awesome. Did Nykidia get to do this all the time? "This is so cool! Do you do this all the time? Is this how you get around?"

"Me too. Can you tell me where we're going now?" The distant lights of an amusement park blinked happily, and Lyra knew that the marina was open. And the aquarium. Plus there were a bunch of places they could go that didn't even open, like a park or a cool view or something.

Lyra giggled from their perch, waving at the bemused passengers with a feral grin. When she was done messing around with the Ferris Wheel passengers, she turned back to pleading with Nykidia. "C'mon. I'll find out soon enough anyway. What's the harm in telling me?"

"Plllllleeeeeeaaaasssseeeeee" Lyra begged, tugging at Nykidia's shirt with a childish expression. The curiosity was eating her alive at this point.

Lyra cooed, appreciating the idea of stargazing. She liked the stars, they were bright and pretty and they started forming pictures if she looked at it hard enough. "That's so cool! I don't stargaze very much, but I'm sure you can tell me what to do. Thanks for telling me, by the way."

(I have a paper to work on, so this is my last reply for the night. Sleep well.)

"Sure. If you want, I can show you one of my favorite spots. I'll probably need to cast some magic on it too if that's okay." Lyra had several favorite places, but none of them compared to the junkyard. It had taken her forever and a half to find it, but now that she knew where it was she visited every week or so.

"Cool! See the marina, with the big fancy yachts and stuff? Drop us off on that beach right next to it." Lyra pointed out the slim expanse of ragged sand, already trying to bring the correct incantations for water breathing into her head. Aquaris Inhalrun… or Aguae Inhelera or… Inhaleae Aquarie. Yes! That was the one.

"Yup!" Lyra wriggled her way out of Nykidia's arms and hopped to the ground with a grin o her face. Strands of hair had come loose for hopping around the city, but she brushed them out of her forehead and cast the water breathing spell. She placed a hand against Nykidia's temple and murmured "Inhaleae Aquarie". Her eyes glowed a deep blue as the spell was cast.
