(For some reason, I thought it was bitter….)
Megan kept at it, fusing wires back in the sockets of his cranium. Come on…. Don't think like that…. You're a marvelous mechanical scientist (if that's even a thing)… You can do it.
that's better thinking. thought skye with a smile, he debated taking some of the herbs himself but decided against it. I'll need all the aura I have if I'm gonna get the cure for Rio….
Megan was working as usual, but then she heard something snap.
She froze.

What on earth was that? She had a closer look, trying her best not to doubt herself.
Skye heard the snap too. "Megan?" he said "What was that?"
She stared at it for a moment. "….My tool broke…." Megan said lowly. Don't worry…. You just need a spare and get the appendage out of his brain… "I need a spare and tweezers….. If I take my eyes off it for one second, I may never find it again…."
Skye nodded and went to the tool shelf, he found the tweezers, but he couldn't find the tool she needed. "Can you tell me where the spare tool is?" he asked
Megan got the tweezers from Skye and carefully removed the broken piece. "I can get it myself… It's in a separate room, and– it'd just be better if I got it myself." She put the tweezers back but stopped.
Never leave in the middle of an operation…. Words floated around in her mind.
"…It's in a room on the other side of the hallway. It's a tool with a bent pick like this," She pointed to the part she pulled out with the tweezers. "You'll see it. Trust me. But you'll need my ID to access entry." Megan dug out her wallet and handed it to him.
Skye took her wallet and went to the room she'd indicated, he saw the scanner on the wall and opened her wallet. He stood there for a few moments trying to figure out how to get the door open before muttering under his breath and warping himself into the room. once inside it didn't take him long to find the tool Megan needed and warping back out into the hallway, I'm gonna regret that later… he thought mournfully as he went back into the lab where Megan was and giving her the tool.
Megan plucked the tool from his hand, saying thank you before going to work on the wiring in Tobias.
Just a little bit more… And he'll be revived…
She continued on for another hour or so, loosing track of time easily. You're almost done… Just nearly there…
Skye waited patiently, hoping Rio was still alright, and that Tobias would be..
Megan worked until it was nearly 9 in the morning.
She wiped the sweat off her brow. "Th-there…" She stammered, putting her tool carefully but forcefully back on the cart. She cautiously closed his cranium and sealed the skin seamlessly. "I… I think he's ready to be woken up…"
"That's good!" said Skye, "One less person we have to worry about!"
After turning off the machine and removing the patches, Megan cleaned off the burnt marks from the shock he got. "This should be fine."
She waited for a bit.
But nothing happened.
She waited for a little longer.
But he didn't wake up.
D– Did I do something wrong?
Skye came over, and letting his aura flow a little around Tobias he noticed there was a bit less energy than usual, "Megan, I know I'm not a scientist but is it possible he just needs a little extra power?" he asked.
Megan nodded slightly. "I… I think so…" She disconnected the wires that had the patches attached to them and put a new fixture on the machine with a steel needle on it instead.
She opened up a square of skin, revealing a green sphere the size of a human heart beneath a few steel alloy ribcage bones. "This is his 'heart'…." She said quietly. "…Can you turn on the machine…?"
Skye found the switch with the on/off label and flicked it returning to Megan's side to watch.
She stopped. "Wait… If I do this, he'll feel everything I do to him…." Hang on– this isn't the right machine!!! "S-Sorry, can you turn it back off?"
Skye quickly flicked the switch again, "Are you ok Megan?" he asked a bit concerned.
"Yes…. It's just…" She reattached the electrical pads to it and put them back on Tobias' face. "If I would've done that, he would see and feel everything I did to him after I exerted the energy back into his core…. And you can't do that…"
She went into the back room and pulled out a generator, plugging it into an outlet into the same machine. "Alright…" She put the needle into the generator and turned it on. "I think I'm ready now…" Megan went back over to Tobias. "…Don't worry… He'll be awake soon…"
"good" said Skye, "Less stress to deal with" And more time for Rio…
She put the needle into a tiny hole outlined in a loop of brass on Tobias' core. The green veins glowed, becoming lively as of now. "That gave me such a scare…" Megan turned off the generator and sealed Tobias' skin back up.
She turned the machine off after sealing him up and removed the patches from his face.
"Tobias…. Wake up if you can hear me…"
Skye watched Tobias worriedly, I hope he's good to go now..
Tobias' eyes opened slowly but surely. His vision was a bit blurry upon waking up. "Megan?" He asked weakly, glancing over. "Skye…? What happened?…."
Skye smiled in relief when Tobias finally woke up.
As Tobias weakly sat up, Megan pulled him into a big hug, squeezing him tight. She didn't say anything for the longest time, just grateful that he didn't permanently shut down.
Skye nodded, waiting for what seemed to be an eternity before interrupting, "Megan," said Skye "I don't mean to be cruel or anything, But we do have other things to do…." he said softly,
Megan nodded. "I know…. I know…."
"What happened?" Tobias asked both her and Skye.
"….Don't ever touch electrical plugs and outlets ever again…" She said to him, pulling away. "Now lets go…"
He sat up and slid off the bed, but instantaneously fell down.
Skye immediately bent down to pull Tobias to his feet, "You ok buddy?" he asked.
Megan helped him up with Skye, and she noticed his legs were shaking. "Can you walk?"
"I– I don't know…." He muttered. "I c-can try…. "
"Just try ok" Saidd Skye gently, mentally shoving his worry and impatience out of the way.
