Zev shrugged. "It depends on what Alexei wants." He replied calmly, still working. "I'll go wherever he wants me to."
"And it became Human, in most ways that mattered." // OxO // OPEN
"Do you just do everything you're ordered to? Have you ever done something just because you want to?" She asked, tossing another handful of old controls out of the room with a smile that showed how proud of herself she was.
Zev nodded, then shrugged. "Yes. And I don't know." he replied, shaking his ehad a little bit.
Thesa nodded, standing up and stepping back to admire her work she had already finished, "This place will be as good as new pretty soon." She glanced at Zev as she sat back down, still working but at a slower pace, "How don't you know? You can make decisions for yourself, but do you actually do them?"
Zev shrugged again. "I do not know because I do not really have wants." He replied slowly.
"Really? Not at all?" She asked, prying pieces off of the controls, "What goes through your head then?"
He blinked. "Information." He replied slowly. "What I see and hear and process."
"But do you think about it? Or just see it and never deal with it again until you need to?" She looked over at him, setting her work aside for a minute.
"I am not sure." he replied after a moment. "I consider things, but I do not have…Thoughts…the way you do."
These nodded, thinking about what he said and just getting more curious, “That’s because you don’t feel emotion right? You don’t match certain events with certain feelings?”
He nodded. "Yes, I would expect so." He responded, still working carefully.
“So you’ve never felt anger? Or happiness?” She questioned, veering away from the thoughts and more focused on emotions now. It amazed her that he had never felt any, good or bad emotions.
He shook his head. "No." He replied calmly. "Androids do not feel emotions."
These nodded, thinking for a minute, “What about when you’re with Alexi? Do you feel any emotional connection to him? Otherwise why do you care more for him? He’s just the guy that created you.”
Zev's eyebrows drew together a little, as if he were confused. "I…am not sure how to answer that." He replied slowly.
She grinned a little in triumph and shrugged, “Does that mean you do connect some emotion to him? Even if you didn’t realize it before?” Thesa wasn’t sure why she cared so much about seeing if he felt emotions, but she figured getting to the bottom of it would mean she would find out herself.
"Why do you care?" He asked, instead of answering her question. "It doesn't really matter either way."
“It matters to me, I want to know,” She said, shrugging and looking up at him from her spot on the floor.
He shrugged a little bit. "Hm. I don't know." He replied slowly.
Thesa sighed and watched him, hoping he would actually answer her question and not ignore it. Maybe it was for the best that she didn’t get an answer though, it was probably too intrusive of a question in the first place.
Zev continued to work, focusing on what he was doing.
“No answer then?” She asked, drumming her fingers against a metal panel and listening to the dull drumming noise it made.
He shook his head. "No." he replied.
Thesa nodded, seeming a little disappointed but covering it quickly as she got back to work. She wasn’t as consistent or fast with her work as Zev was, but she was definitely trying to get her baby back up and looking amazing as quick as she could.
Zev continued to work.
Soon enough she had finished fixing all the controls and the it was starting to look like she was used to. Sure the main window needed to get replaced, and the walls needed work, but it was getting there.
Zev was still working on various things as he finished others. He was quiet unless she woke to him, in which case he answered her questions.
“Whenever you’re done, I’m going to go into the city again and get that replacement main window.” Thesa said, standing up and stretching as he worked, “Do you need anything from the shops? I can go get it and you can stay here.”
Zev nodded. "Go ahead, unless you need me. And no, I don't need anything." He replied.
She nodded, walking out and grabbing the paper on the way, “Nope, I’ll be back before dark. Might stop by Harlin’s before I come back.” With one last wave to Zev, she stepped outside and headed into the city, patting her knife that she slipped into her pocket before she left just in case.
