He smiled a little. "Yeah. It's…it was beautiful, you know? And…gods." he rubbed at his face, tilting his head towards the ceiling. "Sorry. I…"

“Don’t apologize,” Tohru chuckled, laying one hand on the other’s shoulder, “I don’t mind hearing about all that at all. And it’s more than understandable if you uh… get emotional.”
Davin glanced at him, letting out a slow breath. "…yeah. I…yeah. Sorry. It's…hard. And maybe I should be over it already, but…I'm not."
group
“I don’t think there’s really a point at which you should be over something like that. I mean, it’s not like you’re able to have any sort of closure, and it’s not like you’ve allowed yourself to talk to much of anyone about what you feel.”
Tohru let his hand fall away from the other’s shoulder.
“You’re fine, Davin. And I’ve said it before, but I’ll remind you that it’s completely okay to open up to me if you want.”
Davin took in a breath, nodding a little bit. "Yeah. I just…I don't know." he rubbed at his face with a hand, shaking his head a little bit.
group
"That's okay," Tohru said, "Sorry to bring all that up again. I was just… curious, is all."
He offered a slight smile to the other and moved his hand to his shoulder again, trying to be as reassuring as possible. Tohru wasn't so sure it was working, but he was doing his best.
"It's fine." he replied, looking over at Tohru again at the touch. "I just…I don't know. I don't talk about it a lot so it's…"
group
“It’s hard,” Tohru finished for him, “And that makes perfect sense.”
He let out a little sigh.
“As long as I didn’t bother you too much by bringing it up, though… like I said, that was never my intent.”
He nodded a little. "You don't…bother me. It's…like you said, it's just hard."
group
“Y-yeah… Sorry…”
Tohru’s voice softened, until he fell silent, staring at the twinkling stars on the wall, his hand still draped over Davin’s shoulder.
"It's alright." he replied, looking over at Tohru with a faint smile.

“I’ll let you pick the next exhibit,” Tohru suggested, hoping that changing the subject would relieve some of the tension the other might be feeling.
“What’re you thinking?”
Davin blinked. "Oh. Uhm…" he looked around. "How about art? I…don't want to see history."
group
Tohru smiled, perking up a little at his words.
“Yeah, I like art,” he said, “Shall we?”
He smiled. "Let's go." he headed towards the art section, his horns still hidden beneath his cloak.

Tohru followed down the halls. The art gallery was much brighter than the other sections they had seen- presumably well-lit so the works there were visible.
His eyes gazed across one wall, which was filled with ceiling-high paintings.
Davin sighed quietly, looking around at the paintings on the walls.
group
“So are you an art aficionado, or do you simply hold an appreciation for the craft?” Tohru asked, a little distracted as he looked up and down a few of the sculptures.
"Uhm. I just like looking at them." he replied with a laugh, looking over at Tohru.
group
“Understandable. I know some things, but I’m definitely not an expert,” Tohru replied, turning when he felt Davin’s gaze on him.
“Honestly I’ve never understood people who are stuck-up about art. Is it not enough to see something beautiful and enjoy it?”
Davin nodded a little bit. "Right. But there are so many things about art that I don't understand, so." he shrugged.
group
“I mean, I know a bit about techniques. Less about the artists and the meaning, but that’s something I might be able to teach you some about- well, if you’d like…” Tohru said, “Although I can’t say I know a lot about things like sculpture.”
He nodded a little bit again, looking over at Tohru. "Yeah, alright." he replied slowly, running a hand through his hair.
group
Tohru smiled a bit. “I do a little art of my own. I’m mostly self-taught, but yeah, that’s how I know what little I do know.”
His smile fell when he saw Davin run a hand through his hair. Was that disinterest? Nervousness? Something else entirely?
“You alright?” he asked softly.
Davin blinked, looking at him. "Oh, that's really cool. You should show me sometime? If you're alright with that." He replied. "And I'm fine. Don't worry about me."
group
“Ah- o-okay,” Tohru replied, “And of course I can show you sometime. I’ve got a bunch of art supplies in my ship, and I’ve got a couple of sketchbooks back at our place.”
He nodded. "That sounds really cool. You don't have to show me if you don't want to, though."
group
“Sure I will,” he said, “I mean, it’s not like I’m trying to hide it. It just never came up before.”
He carefully eyed one of the paintings on the far wall. He was pretty sure it was some landscape from his home planet. It was next to other vastly different landscapes, and appeared to be part of a collection by an artist.
He smiled, nodding. "Hm. Alright." He replied, stretching a little bit as they walked, looking at the paintings.

Tohru kept moving, happily glancing over to Davin every now and then, until his gaze landed on a painting at the end of the hall. His mouth went horribly dry, and he didn’t even think in time to steer Davin away from it.
He couldn’t ascertain the exact details from this distance, but whatever it was was glorifying the genocide of the Kaythani.
He hadn’t even thought about propaganda art at all before they came here.
