Davin followed Tohru quietly, taking a deep breath and trying not to break down after what he saw.
And the Skies Turned Gold (Reboot) // OxO // Closed

Tohru looked up at the hall ahead and frowned when he realized what was there.
“Davin, you should probably look down,” he said softly, “I’m sorry… I’ll let you know when it’s okay.”
Davin frowned a little bit, but complied, looking down at his feet and trusting Tohru, trusting that the other male would help.

It really seemed to just be one hall of paintings, dotted with a mixture of the horrific paintings and some even worse sculptures. Tohru swallowed really hard and kept going until they were on into the next room, which was mostly landscape paintings.
Davin waited for Tohru to let him know that it was alright. That he could look up and not see something celebrating the destruction of his people.
group
"Okay, we're fine," Tohru said softly, "I'm… I'm sorry."
He flashed a glance at Davin, still not at all convinced everything was okay.
Davin looked up, and nodded a little bit. "It's alright. It's not your fault, I…" he shrugged. "Thank you for helping me, though."
group
“Of course. Like I said, it’s the least I could do,” Tohru said with a shrug.
He was already starting to feel really tired, like his whole body was dragging, yet he tried not to let it show.
Davni took a deep breath. "Yeah. You wanna keep looking around, or should we head home?" he asked.
group
"I'm thinking it might be better if we go home," Tohru admitted, "Unless there's anything you're interested in seeing or doing before we do that."
Davin nodded. "That sounds perfectly fine." he replied, looking over at Tohru with a quick smile. "I…after that…I think I'd rather go home."
group
"Fair enough," Tohru agreed, lowering his eyes, "I'm so-"
Tohru cut himself off and internally berated himself for apologizing too much again. He distractedly messed with his hair a little as he started in the direction of the exit.
Davin raised his eyebrows again. "Don't apologise. You didn't paint it, after all." He replied with a faint smile.
group
Tohru frowned, "I- yeah… I know… I need to get out of that habit, huh?"
He rubbed the back of his neck and smiled back.
He smiled again. "Yeah, you do." he said, reaching out to touch Tohru's shoulder gently.
group
Tohru felt a tingle go down his spine upon Davin touching him.
"Now, let's see… what time is it…" he murmured, trying to distract himself from thinking about Davin.
Whatever feelings he was having, they had to be fleeting. Besides, it felt so wrong, considering how they met, and how basically, if he wanted to, Tohru could turn him in for bounty any second. He wouldn't. Not now. But that leverage he had over Davin weighed on him strangely.
Davin shrugged. "Uhm…between lunch and dinnertime, is all I know." he replied, stretching and tilting his face up towards the sky for a moment.
group
"Did you want to go straight home?" Tohru asked, "Unless there's anything else we forgot to get yesterday while setting up."
"Uhm…" he squinted in thought. "I can't think of anything we forgot, so we can head home if you like."
group
"Works for me," Tohru replied, starting their course to their apartment.
He let out a soft sigh. None of that went how he expected. But he should've expected that.
Davin walked with Tohru, taking a deep breath and trying to push away the memory of that painting. It wasn't the first time he had seen something like that, and it wouldn't be the last.

Once they neared the apartment, Tohru got out his key and started towards the door. He turned to see how close to him Davin was standing.
Davin was standing at a decent distance. Not too close so as to be uncomfortable, but not so far away so as to be awkward.
group
Tohru unlocked the apartment door and pushed it open, leaving it ajar so Davin could follow. He took off his jacket and hung it by the door, then went into the kitchen to get a drink.
Davin followed Tohru quietly, closing and locking the door once they were inside.
group
Tohru leaned up against the counter, taking a few sips of water. He was exhausted, but emotionally.
"Gods…" he murmured.
He let down his hair to release some of the physical tension he was feeling.
Davin sat down on the couch after taking off his cloak, running his fingers through his own hair.
group
Tohru, after taking a minute to breathe, went to the bedroom to grab his bag. He sat down on one of the chairs with his sketchbook and a pencil, tapping the pencil up against his chin as he thought.
Davin closed his eyes for a moment, letting out a slow breath.
