"Imagine a criminal not following the law." Davin said dryly, then leaned forward to pull the blankets over Tohru. "Get some sleep, okay?"

Tohru sighed softly.
"I just meant- never mind…"
He sank down into the blankets, already starting to drift back into sleep. The sleep would be terrible that night, but he would at least make it.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Davin watched Tohru quietly as the young man fell asleep, sighing softly. This had all been so stressful.

Tohru woke up several times during the night, gasping in pain. He had to quiet himself as soon as he fully realized what was going on.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Davin eventually dozed off in the chair, not wanting to disturb Tohru by climbing in beside him on the bed.

Around dawn, Tohru woke up and couldn't go back to sleep. He let out a few pained exhales, trying to keep himself from crying out. He tried to push himself to where he was sitting up, but his arms were weak, and a jolt of pain passed through his body. He laid still again. Tohru turned his head to see Davin wasn't next to him, but on a chair. He would've been perfectly fine had Davin joined him in bed. In fact, he craved the other's presence next to him as he endured the pain.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Davin's chin was resting on his chest, his arms crossed loosely over his body, soft exhales leaving his mouth with each breath. His hair hung loose in a ponytail, a few stray curls falling around his face. His tail was wound around his ankles.

"D-Davin?" Tohru croaked.
His voice was barely audible at all, the words practically tearing from the inside of his throat. Now that he was fully awake and alert, he realized that everything hurt way worse than last night. Almost every inch of his body was sore, he could barely move, he was so thirsty, he probably needed to use the bathroom. It was all a big fucking disaster.

@ElderGod-Icefire

He shifted faintly, but didn't quite wake up, the faint sound of Tohru's voice not quite enough to disturb his slumber. He did look rather uncomfortable, and his neck would probbaly hurt when he awoke.

Tohru remembered suddenly that he'd never sent in the confirmation of his kill last night.
"Shit," he murmured, scanning the room for his device. It was up on the dresser. Would Davin still say he needed to rest?
Tohru ultimately decided to go get it himself. With as much effort as he could muster, he pushed himself out of bed and onto wobbly legs.
The world seemed to be spinning around him when he first stood up. An intense head rush made him go rigidly still, as he didn't want to pass out the second he got to his feet.
Once he gathered up the strength, Tohru walked over to the dresser, whole body shaking. He quickly went through the process of reporting, his hand trembling as he tapped the screen.
Tohru then went to message his boss, Vex, and Kira about what happened. He stayed more vague talking to his boss, but told Vex and Kira some of the finer details in confidence. He stood hunched over the dresser, trembling and too tired to make the walk back to the bed just yet.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Davin continued to sleep, shifting a little bit on the chair.

Once Tohru managed to send those messages, he started towards the bathroom, carefully using whatever walls and furniture he could to help support his weight. And he made it at first. He was able to use the toilet and get himself to the sink. Yet, while he was washing his hands, he started to feel a bit more faint. His brain felt fuzzy, and vision started to go dim again.
His body finally gave out under him. Tohru grabbed at whatever he could to stay upright. He knocked a few bottles off the counter, and the shower curtain and rod came tumbling down when he grabbed at them. Everything came down with a big crash that would likely wake Davin.
Tohru curled in on himself, gasping in pain as he laid on the bathroom floor. He was just damn lucky that he didn't get hurt worse.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Davin startled awake at the sound, getting to his feet quickly. He looked at the bed first, and, upon seeing it was empty, headed over to the bathroom, knocking on the door, and then decided to hell with it. He opened the door, and spotted Tohru on the floor. He crouched beside him, still blinking sleep from his eyes. "Tohru, what happened?"

Tohru tried to push himself up, but only went back down, hissing with pain and clutching at his injury. He was out of breath.
"I was just- just trying to go to the bathroom…" he murmured, "I-I-I'm alright, though. I just started to feel faint. I didn't think-"

@ElderGod-Icefire

Davin sighed faintly. "It's…I'll carry you back to bed." he replied. He bent and scooped Tohru up as best he could, doing his best to be careful.

group

Tohru leaned up against Davin, giving a frustrated sigh. He hated to rely on the other so much even to get between rooms, but he had little choice. He probably could have made it back to bed on his own, but Davin certainly made it easier.
Even just going that short distance with Davin supporting most of his weight, Tohru found himself panting and sweating profusely.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Davin carefully moved Tohru back to the bed, helping him to lay back down. "Here you are." he said softly.

group

"Thank you," Tohru murmured breathlessly, not able to keep eye contact with Davin, he was so humiliated.
Once in the bed, he felt his device buzz a bit. Both Kira and Vex had already responded, both panicked at the situation.
Vex: Tohru, shouldn't you have gone to the fucking hospital?!
Kira: Yeah, are you going to be okay? Do you need anything?

Tohru didn't answer right away. His head felt a little cloudy, so it would be difficult to answer those questions. He curled in on himself when another twinge of pain passed over his body. He found himself instinctively grabbing for Davin's hand. His own palm was damp with sweat.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Davin let Tohru grab his hand, taking a deep breath as he looked down at the other man. "How are you feeling?" he asked softly.

group

Tohru shook his head.
"I'm doing rough, man," he murmured in reply, "I could probably use some pain meds or something. Slept terribly last night."

@ElderGod-Icefire

Davin nodded a little. "Alright. I'll, uh, see what we have in the apartment."

group

Tohru was taken aback. He didn't mean to make Davin run around and do things for him-
"Oh- uh… thank you," he said, "If you can't find anything, that's okay-"
The shooting pain in his shoulder returned, along with a stabbing feeling where he'd been shot. Tohru curled in on himself again, trying to ride out the pain.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Davin looked around in the first aid kit and in the cupboards, digging around for whatever they had. "The strongest thing we have is tylenol." he said. "I can go out and buy something stronger, if you like?"

group

"Just whenever you next leave for work or go out, you can get me something," Tohru said, a little out of breath still, "I can hold out until then on just the Tylenol."
He reached over to respond to the messages from his coworkers finally, but he had trouble coming up with what to say. How the hell did he explain something like this?
It's fine. Davin's taking care of me. I can't afford a hospital stay anyhow
Kira: So you would have rather bled out?
Tohru sighed. Yeah. Basically.

@ElderGod-Icefire

He brought Tohru the tylenol, setting it down on the counter. "Here." he said, giving Tohru a quick smile.

group

Tohru looked away as he took the pills.
"Um… thank you- I… I really wouldn't have made it out without you. And I'll try to do better, okay? I don't want to leave you, I really don't."
Even after all his apologies, no amount felt like enough.

@ElderGod-Icefire

Davin nodded faintly, running a hand through his curls. He still hated that Tohru hadn't been honest. That was the worst part. Tohru hadn't told him what was going on, and then this had happened. What if he hadn't been able to get there in time, and the other man had died?

group
@Becfromthedead group

"I'm just gonna lay down and rest a-and draw or something," Tohru said, giving a pained smile. "I'm alright, I'm fine…"
He said this, mostly trying to reassure himself.
What the hell did I do to deserve him?

@ElderGod-Icefire

"Alright." he replied in a soft tone, straightening and fidgeting for just a moment. "I'll, uh, be out there." he gestured to the door. "Just let me know if you need anything." he headed out of the room, leaving the door open so that he would be able to hear if Tohru needed him.

group
@Becfromthedead group

"Okay, I will. Thank you," Tohru said shortly, a light flush spreading over his face.
He would not, in fact, let Davin know if he needed anything.
Tohru picked up his device and began working on a piece, a still-life inspired by things from Kaythan. He was in awful pain. The medicine he had taken earlier was doing nothing for him, and he had to take breaks for several minutes at a time. It took a lot to not cry from how much it hurt.
Meanwhile, Tohru was also in contact with Vex and Kira. They had a groupchat between the three of them that they'd just started today, after learning about Tohru. And both were berating him a bit for getting into trouble. He was certain it would be worse if they found out what really happened.
