Nathaniel hugged Ellis tightly and started crying, curling his wings around himself as a sort of shield. "B-But what if he isn't? What am I gonna do without him? I c… I c-can't be king…"

Ellis held him close. "He will be. I promise." He said again. "I really, really promise."
Nathaniel hiccupped and clung tighter to Ellis. "Why's he gotta be the hero all the time? Why can't he just sit down and let someone else do it for once??"
"Shhh, shhh. I don't know." He soothed. "I told him not to, but he wouldn't listen to me."
"He's gonna get himself killed one of these days and he doesn't even care!" Nathaniel wailed, burying his face in Ellis's chest.
Ellis rubbed his back. "I know." he said softly, closing his eyes for a moment. "I know, Nathaniel."
Nathaniel drew in a few quick, shaky breaths, still clinging to Ellis. "I c… I c-can't lose him…" He whispered.
Ellis nodded a little bit. "I know." He replied softly. "I…I don't wanna lose him either."
After another hour, they were finally allowed to go inside. Lloyd was still unconscious and had on a breathing mask, but he seemed to be stable.

Ellis kept one arm around Nathaniel, trying to soothe him.

Nathaniel started crying again at the sight of Lloyd, clinging tightly to Ellis for comfort.
Ellis held him gently. "Shhh. He'll be alright, I promise. He's a strong bastard."
Nathaniel nodded shakily and hesitated before heading closer to Lloyd.
Ellis stayed near Nathaniel, biting his lip a little bit.
When he wasn't stopped, Nathaniel tentatively climbed onto the bed and huddled close to Lloyd, still crying softly.
Ellis sighed, reaching over to gently put a hand on the boy's back. "He'll be alright." He said again, helplessly.
Nathaniel sobbed quietly, struggling to draw in a full breath. His breathing was harsh and shaky, and he still seemed very distressed.
Ellis rubbed Nathaniel's back gently, making calming sounds to him.
Lloyd drew in a shuddering breath, remaining unconscious for now. Nathaniel started crying harder and clung more tightly to Lloyd.
Ellis closed his eyes for a moment. He didn't know how to comfort Nathaniel. Didn't know what to say.
"Y-You can't die Lloyd… you just c… c-can't…" Nathaniel whispered weakly. He was in hysterics by now and was clearly very stressed. Lloyd coughed a couple times and stirred.
Ellis reached over to rub Nathaniel's back gently.
Lloyd grimaced and opened his eyes a bit. His breath fogged up his oxygen mask as he looked at Nathaniel and Ellis weakly.
Ellis bit his lip, looking down at Lloyd.
"G-Go ahead and say it…" Lloyd whispered weakly, his eyes trained on Ellis while he pulled Nathaniel close with what strength he had.
"You're a fucking idiot, and you better heal." Ellis replied.
Lloyd nodded a bit. "Mhmm… go on?" He ran his fingers through Nathaniel's hair to calm him, drawing a few weak purrs out of the boy.
"You had me so damn worried and your brother was sobbing. You fucking bastard."
"Mhmm… what else…?" Lloyd closed his eyes again, content to just hold Nathaniel and listen. He continued trying to soothe the boy, which was somewhat working.
"Do you just want me to stand here and insult you?"
