He did it.. He actually did it… But— But he’s also left her. But, still. He’d done it.

“That’s… Oh my gosh. William, I— That’s amazing. I’m so glad— so proud… Oh my word, Will,” she breathed, her eyes wide as she looked up at him, laughter threatening to bubble in her throat. But then she realized what else he’d said. He had looked for her. Waited for her. But he couldn’t find her, and that was her own fault… “I’m sorry… I moved schools at the end of the year. I graduated from one a couple towns over. I think I just needed some distance…”

The look in her eyes—it drove him wild. She looked so happy. So proud of him. She looked so goddamn beautiful like that. He swallowed thickly, just about ready to pull her into his arms and kiss her breathless.

He held himself back.

“I understand,” he said, a smile forming on his lips. “It feels like a dream. I feel like I’m dreaming. That life is playing a cruel joke on me, and I’m going to wake up and you won’t be there.”

His smile… Gosh, how she had missed his smile. Her own began to grow on her lips as she looked up at him. She wanted to hug him, but would that be okay? He looked like he wanted to kiss her so badly, but she needed to go slowly if this was going to happen again… Or she could just let things go at their natural pace…

“It’s not a dream, Will. If it’s a dream, then I’m having it, too. And I wouldn’t want this dream to ever end,” she whispered, taking a tiny step closer.

She smiled and the whole world lit up. William’s world burst into color, just like he knew it would if he ever saw her smile again. Except it was a thousand times better. It was the real thing.

William spread his arms, tilting his head to the side. Would she hug him? Let him take her in his embrace? Would she want to kiss him?

Amber paused. He’d opened his arms for her… Should she go to him? Fall into his arms as she had many times so long ago?

Her lips quivered slightly as she took another step closer. And then another. Her next step took her right into his embrace, and she leaned into him. He still felt like her Will…

William immediately wrapped his arms around her, hugging her tightly, burying his head in the crook of her neck. He breathed her in. She still felt like peace. She still felt like home.

“I missed you,” his voice trembled when he spoke. “Can we start over?”

The touch of his lips on her forehead burned… Bu it was a good burning, one that reminded her of their past.

“Local recording studio. Late Night Records,” she murmured, closing her eyes and leaning further into him. “I get off at four…”

William was leaning back against the entrance of the studio Amber told him about fifteen minutes before she got off. He tapped on his phone, trying to pass the time.

He had miraculously survived waiting for five hours for his Blue. It was absolute torture. Finding her again but being unable to hold her for long. He was determined to keep her with him. Forever, if he could help it. He wouldn’t let her be anyone else’s.

But what if she realizes she didn’t want him anymore? He clenched his jaw. He didn’t want that.

Amber had been busy the whole day after seeing William. Her mind was running, thoughts and memories of him going through her head. Gosh, why did he have to be so distracting?

Someone told her that there was a man waiting for her in the lobby, and her heart skipped. He came. He actually came… Had she really ever doubted he would?

She finished as quickly as she could, hurrying through her last few tasks so that she could see him. When she finished, she pulled her hair into a half-up ponytail, tugged her light jacket on, and shouldered her purse. Upon reaching the lobby, she was flushed and breathless, but she was still grinning as she walked over to him.

“Hi,” she greeted him, soft and simple.

William waited for a while, tapping his foot. Except for one person, William hadn’t talked to anyone else. And that conversation was short lived, too. Just a brief exchanging of words. Who he was waiting for.

Then he saw her, red in the face and breathless, but still sporting a beautiful grin. She greeted him and he responded by pushing himself off of the wall and wrapping his arms around her.

He was never going to get tired of it. Of hugging her.

“Hey there,” he breathed. “I missed you.”

His arms immediately wrapped around her, and she leaned into him. She wrapped her own arms around him, resting her forehead on his chest.

“I missed you, too, Will,” Amber murmured, hugging him tightly. “Where are you taking me tonight?”

“Have you eaten?” William questioned, exhaling deeply. He had missed this. Being wrapped in her embrace, her scent in his nose. It still drove him insane. “I could take you out to eat.”

William pressed a kiss in the middle of her brows, returning her grin with a smile of his own.

“I still can’t believe it,” he murmured, pressing their foreheads together. “Seeing you again. I thought I could never get that chance again. I thought I lost you forever.”

Amber let out a slow breath at his kiss and looked up at him from beneath her lashes.

“I know… I can hardly believe it, myself,” she murmured. She pulled away slightly to glance around quickly before taking his hands. “Come with me quickly…”

“Just… outside. There’s something I need to do with you,” Amber murmured, tugging him out the doors. She led him around the building to the side of it. With her back against the wall, she pulled him to him to herself and gripped his shirt in her hands, looking up at him as intensely as he had looked at her that morning. “Kiss me. Kiss me, Will, like I know you want to. Please.”

Something snapped inside William when she pressed herself against the wall, pulled him to her and looked at her with raw hunger and intensity. His control snapped like a strand of hair.

“Kiss me. Kiss me, Will, like I know you want to. Please.”

William didn’t waste any second. He bent down immediately, pressing his lips against her, hands resting on her waist. The second their lips touched, fireworks exploded inside William. He felt relief course through him, as if the harsh fire had been put out and something else had lit aflame in his body. This was where he was meant to be. With Amber, in her arms. Home.

Finally, finally he kissed her. Even four years later it was no different. They still wanted each other and only each other. He still wanted her, she still wanted him, and that was all. Simply that, and it was all they needed.

She kissed him back, the hands on his shirt finding their place around his neck. She let one hand drift to his hair, rubbing her fingers through it like she had so long ago. Gosh, she had missed this…

William stifled a growl and pressed himself harder against her. Four years of no Amber. Four years of no kisses, no touches. It drove him crazy. Drove him wild. And she still wanted him, still desired him just as much as he did. That was enough for him. That was more than enough.

“I missed this,” he growled against her mouth, “You. This. Everything.”
