Abaven stopped and instinctively grabbed Adelina's arm. "Milady, don't move-"
(Great idea)
The moment she felt Abaven's hand on her arm she stopped. "What's going on?" Her eyes wide and full of concern.
He led her towards a nearby tree and ducked, gesturing for her to do the same. "We're being followed."
Very slowly, trying to be quiet, she tip-toed to Abaven and crouched down beside him. "Do you know who it is?" She said in a very small and quiet voice.
He shook his head. "I have no clue, but they're not-" his eyes widened and he shoved Adelina out of the way. A knife flew right in between the two of them, just barely missing Adelina. Abaven took a throwing knife out of his own pocket and threw it towards where he thought the attacker was. A small groan could be heard from that direction.
Abaven grabbed Adelina's arm and practically dragged her out of the area. Once he thought they were safe, he let go of her and bowed. "Forgive me for pushing you, milady."
She was shaking ever so slightly and she was breathing very quickly. "It is uh… I'm glad you did… thank you." Adelina was still shaking, however, her breathing was mostly back to normal.
Abaven looked up at her, concerned. "Are you alright?"
Adelina sent him a small smile. "Yeah… I am fine. Just a bit shaken, that is all." She was actually still terrified. She was also paranoid that more people like that were coming and it would just be a matter of time.
He looked at her, studying how she reacted. "Well, if it helps, we've practically arrived." he pointed towards the town nearby. It was only a few minutes until they reached it.
She smiled as he pointed to the town. "Thank goodness!" She already looked happier, but she was still a bit paranoid.
"Let's continue then,"
Time skip
"We've arrived. Do you know where she lives?" his voice wasn't as panicky before. In fact, he was quite relieved that they were in a public space.
"No, I do not. But she told me to meet her at the market and I do know where that is." She had been smiling since they arrived. She started walking in the direction of the market.
He followed her, starting to relax. He was born in this town, and he felt safe whenever he visited.
"Abaven, what are you going to do while I am visiting my sister?" She looked back at him, with a curious smile.
"I guess I could visit my childhood home. See if any of my friends are still around," he shrugged. He highly doubted any of his friends were still here but it couldn't hurt to look.
"That sounds nice, I hope you find some of your friends." Adelina looked ahead a bit more and her smile grew. Her sister was waiting for her by a booth. She picked up her pace and face her sister a hug. (Do you want to play Adelina's sister, or should I?)

Abaven left Adelina alone, wandering the village
Kalevi hugged her sister back. "Adelina! How are you?"
"I am wonderful! How are you, Kalevi?" Adelina got out of the hug, still a huge smile on her face. She had been waiting to see her sister for weeks and it finally happened. They were super close, she felt like she could tell Kalevi everything, and she did.
Kalevi had a huge grin on her face. She hadn't seen her sister in forever. "I'm doing great! Do you want to find a place to sit down?"
"That would be wonderful after what happened today." Adelina linked her arm with Kalevi's and started walking.
"Oh? What happened?" Kalevi led her to a small park nearby, sitting on a bench
Adelina let out a breath and sat down. "Uh… someone was following Abaven and I. We both ran and hid but a knife was thrown at me, barely missing me. I haven't been that terrified in a while." Her arm was still linked with her sister's and she tightened her arm, paranoid again.
"Abaven's a guard, right? It's good that he was there!" Her eyebrows were raised, and she was visibly concerned for her sister. "You're safe now. That's what matters, right?"
She noticed her sister's concern and smiled to comfort her. "Yeah, he's my escort. But I should be safe now and if I need anything, he is close by."
"That's good," she returned her sister's smile. In a quieter voice, she asked, "How's your husband?" She was aware that the two were unhappy together, and she always viewed it as unfair
Adelina lowered her voice as well. "As troublesome as ever. I have had to go to Cartletown at least 7 times in two months to fix his problems with the mayor." She paused for a moment. "I told Abaven about my… situation. He suggested that I marry someone then divorce Robert. I'll still be a duchess so mother and father won't be angry and I'll be with someone I love."
Kalevi raised her eyebrows. "Pretty smart for a brawny guy." She grinned and playfully nudged her sister. "So, who are the candidates for your marriage?"
Adelina opened her mouth about to defend Abaven but she quickly closed her mouth stopping herself before she said anything. She looked down trying to think of anyone. "Um… I actually don't think I have anyone in mind… yet." She said with a smile.
