(That's so stupid of them to get upset about a hysterectomy; I'm not a trans man but I plan on getting a hysterectomy once I'm old enough because I don't want kids or a period. People trying to dictate what others do with their bodies pisses me offff, I'm sorry you have to deal with that)

(Eh I'll be fine. Thanks for the kind words, they mean a lot.)

Robert's expression darkened. "If I am your friend, then you will not talk about my family so carelessly like that. Don't you think if your creation kills my niece, then the fault extends to you? It wouldn't be the first time." he shouldered past him, making his way up the stairs. "If you don't want to burden me with your sins, then don't talk as if you're trying to add to the list."

Perhaps spending time alone did him good. When he heard the call for dinner, he halted his work on gathering money for those he needed to pay and made his way back downstairs, his hair now back in a fluffy ponytail. He was at least in a better mood than he was before going upstairs. He made his way to Margaret, taking her hand and saying tentatively, "Maggie, are you alright? I'm really sorry you had to read that, I figured it was the best way to explain their situation…"

(hahaha, this is what I meant by Robert knocking some sense into this man)

(Victor: gets rekt)

Victor sat and stared at Robert for a few seconds, before walking outside. He thus began to scream, for several long seconds, and then walked back inside. This was a coping mechanism, and it mostly worked, he'd done it many times before, mostly at the sky for sins that could never be forgiven in his general direction. "My apologies. Yes, my apologies. It's fine, everything is fine, this is fine." he said to the wall, then walked into the dining room to find the creature sitting there with a very, very smug look on his face that promptly turned to a look of innocence as he rocked back and forth on the floor, sitting cross-legged and patient.

Margaret nodded to Robert, just a little bit, to let him know it was okay but she really needed to serve them dinner. She brought out the pot filled with a delicious smelling stew that, compared to the smell, actually looked a bit underwhelming. But, Margaret had a way of spicing things that made them taste amazing, and it was a skill she prided herself on. "Now, everyone pray to any god that's out there that you digest this meal well, and dig in." she said, joking on the first part and ordering on the second.

(I used to make fun of Victor Frankenstein for running into the mountains to avoid his problems but then I went up to the UP this summer and I gotta say…I agree, 10/10 avoidance strategy)

(You get gorgeous nature and time to self-reflect. Also occasionally a very bloody leg injury but that bit's irrelevant.)

@ElderGod-Icefire

(the mountains are amazing places, 10/10 would go there to avoid problems)

@Tired-but-passionate

(maybe, but the one time I went to the mountains, I was distracted by the cold and all the other people there hahahaha, so that kinda created more problems, but oh well)

(Yeah, the UP is fun and all but they're too obsessed with fudge or are we talking about a different UP than the one in michigan? But yeah running off to the woods or general local scenery is a 100/10 strategy for avoiding your problems.)

(I was in Ironwood, not a ton of fudge there unfortunately. I like pasties better but fudge is still good. The Porcupine Mountains are a good place for Avoiding Your Problems asdgfhgj)

(There's no fudge much anywhere UNLESS you live super close to Mackinac and that is a threat. In all seriousness the fudge thing is more of a stereotype and honestly I just like bullying my fellow Michiganders. Fortunately I live in Kalamazoo now and I get to go to a Gays Only support group so that's neat.)

(Oh poggers. Yeah they have this place called Outfront that's pretty cool, I met a few people online during the pandemic and we kinda made our own thing there because as neat as the place is, they are a bit pretentious for my taste so now I discord call them every so often and we hang out, talk about how much we hate our parents, and play video games its great. That is what I mean by support group I'm honestly not super active in Outfront anymore.)

@Tired-but-passionate

(That's super cool guys, I have no idea about half the things you're talking about :D)

(That's fine dude! I don't understand half of what we're talking about either!)

(Robert: has no regrets)

Robert got the message, satisfied with Margaret's nod, at least for now. Silently, he helped set the table, then took his seat. He smiled as the stew was brought to the table; it smelled like home. Still his smile grew when Margaret said to dig in, he was just glad she didn't sound so stiff and robotic anymore.
"Thank you, Maggie, this smells wonderful," he said, taking the ladel and pouring his share into his bowl. He brought a spoonful to his mouth and moaned with delight. "How I've missed this," he murmured.

Victor hesitantly served himself, wondering what was in the soup and not wanting to find out. He had a delicate constitution, after all. The creature simply sat there, staring. He just watched as the others ate, trying to figure out the mechanics of silverware, but it made his head spin. How did you balance the spoon for the soup when your hands were shaking so? At least he had a better understanding now that he could actually see people eating in action, however silly the notion was.

@Tired-but-passionate

Robert was digging into the stew in every sense of the word, and in about ten minutes he was finished and about to go for another helping when he noticed Victor and the creature. He decided to ignore Victor, saying, "Uh, Creature?" calling him that made Robert uncomfortable, but it was all he had to go on. "Are you alright? Is there something wrong?"

"Oh, no, n-nothing." he flustered, serving himself quickly and a bit messily. If it bothered Anna she never commented on it, but she did stare some. Margaret flinched, this was one of her best tablecloths and she hated to see it get messy. The creature attempted eating, but it felt like all eyes were on him and he could barely manage to keep from choking up what he'd already spooned into his mouth.

@Tired-but-passionate

Robert flinched away from the pot as the creature quickly gave himself a portion. “A-alright then,” he muttered. After nonchalantly taking a sip of his water glass, he gave himself a second helping. He ate a few spoonfuls, then turned to his niece. “Would you like to hear more about my trip, Esme?”

"I would, very much!" she said excitedly, bouncing in her seat. Victor flinched, this was too much energy for him and he had never really been good around children, even his own siblings. He just preferred to be alone in general, and he didn't like when people were loud. Suddenly, he deeply wished that he could leave, but when he looked desperately at Anna she shot knives at him with here glare. He was to stay here, it was only polite, he assumed.

@Tired-but-passionate

Robert beamed at Esme. Then he pursed his lips in thought. “Well, like I said, we traveled along the coast of Greenland for a while. We ran into a few storms, some so strong that waves crashed onto the boat, soaking everything it touched. I may have gotten myself a cold once or twice.” He chuckled. “One time we saw a huge whale breaching the surface of the water. Another time it was a pod of dolphins, and Esme, they came so close to us! I could hear them making those clicking noises from all the way on the deck.” He paused, making another breathy chuckle.
“After one of the storms, I saw a rainbow, I think. It’s kind of amazing I only saw one once. But I will say the aurora borealis took the prize for most spectacular.” He took a few moments to eat some of his stew.
“The further north we got, the more ice there was. It started becoming dangerous to sail. But I wanted to keep going. I believed we were close. So we kept going, but the crew started getting restless. It was hard for them to keep the ship out of danger, getting harder by the hour. We had some close calls. And then one night, under the northern lights and bright stars, we find these fellows.”
He gestured to Victor and the creature. Even though Esme was the only person in the room who didn’t know the story of how he found them, he was still going to tell it for her sake. Although, he wasn’t sure how to tell the rest without Esme asking some private or rude questions.
