"Scrambled is just fine. What about you?" Rowan replied, kissing Damian's cheek and bumping his hip against Damian's a little as he worked, getting out all the supplies. Shredded cheese, pepper, salt, and other toppings for once they were done. He opened up the eggs, and counted them to see when he would need to buy more.

“I’d love scrambled too,” Damian replied with a smile, bumping Rowan’s hip back while he was at it. He cracked a few more eggs, and after a moment to decide that it’d be a good amount he asked to double-check with Rowan, “You think that’ll be enough?” He didn’t plan on eating much, Damian always ate with smaller portions to begin with.
Rowan examined the eggs, and nodded. "Yeah, that'll be perfect. What do you want to add to yours?" He asked, raising his eyebrows at Damian and helping with the eggs now. "I usually add cheese a few minutes before I take the eggs off of the pan, and some salt and pepper afterwards. What about you?"
“That sounds delicious, I’d be more than happy to have the same stuff as you for my eggs,” Damian replied as he stirred the eggs around in the pan. He casually leaned into Rowan’s side, not enough to get in the way of cooking but enough to feel his warmth, which made Damian end up smiling again.
Rowan smiled. "Alright." he replied. When the eggs were mostly done, he added some cheese to them, which melted quickly in the heat. He smiled a little bit, and tucked his arm around Damian to hold the other male close. He kissed Damian's temple, loving that they could do this. Just…be together and make breakfast and talk and smile. Normal things.
Damian grinned and leaned into Rowan a little bit more. “This is really nice,” Damian mumbled softly with a lazy grin before planting a small kiss on Rowan’s jawline because he was too lazy to move his head all the way too steal a kiss on his lips. “We should have breakfast together at least once a weak,” Damian murmured with a small laugh.
Rowan smiled, and nodded in agreement. "Yeah. We should." He replied softly, holding Damian close to him. "But to have breakfast together, we have to spend the night together at least once a week." He kissed Damian's cheek. When the eggs were done, he turned off the burner and split them between two plates, handing one to Damian.
“At least,” Damian agreed with a grin. In all honesty, he wouldn’t mind spending every night of the week curling up in Rowan’s arms. Damian took his plate with a gracious smile, grabbing a fork for himself and Rowan. He didn’t sit down quite yet though, Damian leaned over and pecked Rowan’s cheek before he moved to sit down.
Rowan smiled, and sat down beside him, setting his own plate down. "Not that I would mind." He said, still smiling and unable to stop. He returned the kiss, pressing his mouth to Damian's cheek for a long moment before pulling away. He began to eat his eggs. "Oh, water?" He asked after swallowing, raising his eyebrows. "Or…milk, or juice? It's too early for alcohol."
Damian smiled, enjoying that kiss on the cheek. It was just so sweet, Rowan was so sweet. “Water would be amazing,” He replied with another smile, joy twinkling in his eyes. He enjoyed this a lot, when was the last time he had a breakfast with another man and just let himself be happy? Too long to remember.
Rowan smiled at him, and nodded. He grabbed two glasses of water for them, and sat back down again. "Alright." he smiled happily, and then leaned over to kiss his cheek again. "I…I really like this." he said slowly, looking at his plate, uncharacteristically shy. "Being with you, I mean."
Damian smiled at the kiss, taking note of how Rowan looked down. “I like this a lot too,” He told him softly with a smile, scooting his chair over so his thigh touched Rowan’s. “I love being with you. You make me happier than I’ve been in a ling while.” Damian’s eyes truly did sparkle with joy as he gazed at Rowan’s handsome face. This, these moments they had… Damian loved them.
Rowan nodded, and looked at him. He put an arm around Damian's shoulders, holding him close to Rowan's side. "Me too." He said quietly, leaning his forehead against the side of Damian's head. "I thought that I…the whole Reaper thing…I thought that meant I could never be…" He wasn't sure how to say what he meant. That he had thought he could never have this because he was the Reaper, and he scared everyone away.
Damian leaned into him. “You could never be with someone?” He whispered softly as one of his arms snaked around so he could snuggle into Rowan’s side better. “I’m… I’m not… Rowan, that part of you doesn’t -will never- make me turn away. I’m not afraid of you,” Damian offered up a tiny smile. “I know you, I know you’d never hurt me.” But you can, and you did. And you will. Damian thought of his wounded side, but desperately pushed that to the back off his mind. But he knew that he and Rowan would have another fight, whether it be tomorrow or the next day or the next week, it would happen again. And Rowan would hurt him. But surely, if he knew it was me, he wouldn’t do it. He wouldn’t hurt me if he knew it was me.
Rowan nodded a little. At Damian's words, he melted a little inside, snuggling as close as possible to Damian. He closed his eyes. He never, ever wanted to hurt Damian, but if he couldn't learn to control the Reaper… someday he might. He would. And then what would he do? Because no apology would ever, ever make that sort of thing right.
Damian smiled and let out a little hum. He wanted to take this relationship farther, he wanted to stay with Rowan for a long while. Damian wouldn’t let his double life dilemma get in his way. He’d learn to make it work. Damian would need to become especially careful, not only with being able to control his powers so they could go further, but when he was out fighting him. Damian would need to find ways to stop the Reaper without actually hurting him.
Rowan held him close for a few more minutes, then released his hold on Damian. "We should, uhm…finish eating." he said, picking his fork back up and starting to eat again, though he still couldn't contain his smile. He couldn't help the tingle of happiness that was still flowing through his veins at what Damian had said.
“Yeah,” Damian agreed with a giggle, going back to eating. Normally, Damian skip breakfast to help cut costs or just because he didn’t feel like eating, but right now Rowan was really distracting and Damian didn’t quite realize how much he was eating in the first place. “What do you want to do after this?” Damian asked, though he supposed he should probably get back home and go back to job searching.
Rowan shrugged slightly. "I don't know." he replied with a soft laugh. "Sleep? Work on stuff?" he frowned. "Believe it or not, I do have a job that I suppose I need to do." he grimaced at the thought. "Not that I want to." And he could afford not to, though having a job helped keep him busy.
Damian let out a soft laugh. “I really need to get a job soon. I’m hoping I can just get something, anything really. The bills are getting harder to pay,” Damian explained with a shrug, those he was much more panicked and stressed than what he led on. He desperately needed to get hired soon. “Where do you work?” Damian asked before any more comments about his own financial troubles could be made.
Rowan frowned a little. "My uncle's company." he replied with a shrug. "Well, technically the family company, but it got passed to my uncle when my father…died…" When I killed him. He swallowed, running a hand over his hair. "If you want me to, I can maybe put in a good word for you with him? You could apply there and I'm sure he would hire you." he wanted to help Damian, after hearing about the bills, but he knew that the other male might not accept his help.
Damian reached over an intertwined his fingers with Rowan’s at the mention of his father’s death. He knew some scars had a hard time fully healing. “You’d do that for me?” Damian bit his lip, then added, “I-I couldn’t ask that of you, really, it’d be selfish…” Damian wasn’t sure. On one hand, he desperately needed a job. On the other, what if he kept missing days of work because of what he had to do for the city? What would Rowan think if he got fried from that job too?
"Well, yeah. If you want me to, I mean." Rowan replied with a quick smile. "My uncle is pretty chill. He'd be fine with it." he kissed Damian's cheek, giving Damian's hand a light squeeze, thankful that the other male was here. "Plus then I'll have more motivation to actually show up and do my job." he added with a grin.
Damian’s heart hung on to that kiss, it even summoned a smile onto Damian’s lips. “I- I’d have to take a night shift,” Damian told him, looking towards his feet. “I-… I get busy during the day.” If he worked at Rowan’s family company, would it become easier to connect the dots? Did Damian want to keep his secret life a secret from Rowan? Yes. There’s a fifty fifty shot he’d kill me if he found out.
"Alright." he kissed Damian's cheek again, tugging him closer. "That's fine. Like I said, I'll talk to him and see what can be done. All his employees are allowed to have pretty flexible hours, so that won't really be a problem." he held Damian. His…what were they? Could he say that they were really, truly dating, that Damian was his…boyfriend? Could he say that?
Damian smiled, happily letting himself be tugged closer to the other male. “You know how to fix everything, you know,” Damian told him with a smile, nuzzling his face into Rowan’s neck. “You’re like a fairy godmother, except handsome and we love each other. So more like a prince,” Damian said with a giggle, stealing a kiss from Rowan’s lips.
Rowan laughed happily. "I'm a fairy prince, now am I?" He asked, arching an eyebrow and looking at Damian. He returned the kiss. His heart did cartwheels in his chest at the words "love each other", and he studied Damian. Wasn't it a little early for love? But…but maybe that's what this was? He didn't know.
“Yep. Fairy prince,” Damian grinned, grabbing Rowan’s hand and kissing his hand. “You’re magical. You’re my magical man.” Rowan was amazing. He was perfect—well, if you didn’t take into account the Reaper. Damian didn’t like that part of him, but Damian also liked to ignore that part of him. The Reaper didn’t matter to him, Rowan mattered.
Rowan laughed again, smiling and kissing Damian's forehead. "Alright. Although I'd debate about the magical part of that." He replied, tugging Damian even closer. He didn't want the other male to leave, even though he knew it was inevitable. Even though he knew it would happen at some point today.
“You are quite magical, I’ll have you know,” Damian protested with a smile, his arms tightening their grip on the male ever so slightly. “I doubt you could make me feel the way I did last night without magic,” Damian told him with a giggle. Gosh… just thinking about what happened -what he’d gotten so close to be able to do- made his temperature drop a few degrees and had him feeling all giddy inside.
