It disappeared with a snapping noise and she felt herself get pushed. STOP IT!

M had gone to bed, and Zackary was growling quietly. What the hell do you need him for?

She ignored him and instead sat down, her head in her hands.

There was a faint sigh and someone sat down next to her. Someone… not totally real.

Zackary? She looked around her, confused.

A faded version of Zackary was sitting there. He was perfect in every way, down to the point of his nose, but faded out some, though his neck had a strange twitch to it. His wings were also faintly visible, but one was crooked and white.

She looked over at him tiredly. What are you doing here?

He was glaring at her through his faded eyes. I'm here because I'm worried about you. You're acting like an idiot.

She glared back. I can't even do anything to myself.

You'll find a way around it because you're the daughter of Xanthe. She's acted like this for the majority of her life. You shouldn't tread down the same path.

I'll tread down whatever path I want thank you. She got up and walked out of the kitchen, hoping to rid herself of Zackary for at least a couple minutes.

If you want to get rid of me so badly just say so. His gruff voice hissed and suddenly he was gone from the step.

North sighed, feeling a sense of loneliness without Zackary there. She sat back down, the tears threatening to spill over once again.

The kitchen was dark and quiet.
