He smiled at her and shook his head "I'll help if you want me to."

"I want you to," she said firmly, but shyly.

He nodded and handed her a cooled croissant and some butter

"Thank you," she replied quietly.

He nodded and grabbed some butter from the cabinet. Butter or chocolate?"

"Chocolate," she answered with a smile.

He passed her the chocolate and headed for the dining room

"You're in a hurry," she remarked. A chime went off on her tablet. She'd tend to it later, she thought as she followed Gabriel's lead to the dining room.

"I'm excited to get started." He said glancing up as the tablet went off "is that something important?"

Nathalie went over to it and checked. She smiled briefly to herself, then walked back over to Gabriel. "No."

He nodded "nothing on dimetri either hm?"

"Nothing. I haven't heard from him in a while," she replied, her tone laced with slight worry. "Do you think he knows that you know?"

He shrugged "I don't know, maybe he does. Maybe he doesn't. Maybe he's waiting." He tapped his fork on the table in thought

Nathalie sighed slowly. "I hope he doesn't know."

He glanced up at her "he won't love."

"And how are you so sure?"

"he won't. I'll make sure of it." He said

"Don't put yourself in danger for me, Gabriel, please," she begged him.

"I can't really make any promises, love." He said.

"Gabriel," she pleaded. "Just promise that you won't put yourself in harm for me."

"I can't promise that because if you were ever in danger or in trouble I would put myself in danger for you in a heartbeat."

"Then you have to let me do the same for you," she replied firmly.

"But if I was in danger and you put yourself in danger I would have to put myself in danger to save you to save me. It would be a never ending circle." He said with a smile

She sighed and shook her head. "We'll see."

"Will we?" He asked inquisitively.

"Hopefully not, but if it comes down to it," she clarified, glancing absently at her tablet. Her subtle smile returned for a second.

"Mhm." He stepped over to her and kissed her cheek.

She looked up at him, already turning pink. "What?"

"Mmm, nothing." He said and walked away.

She stood up quickly and walked after him. "No, what?"
