“How are you doing, hun?” Autumn asked softly. “Anything you need?”
mOth GIRL COME MORROW I WANT ANOTHER RP WITH YOU
Jilly gently set the cloth in the dark water once she finished. It floated then sunk slowly. Still, that dirty feeling persisted.
“No. I’m okay. Thank you.”
“Are you hungry at all? We could go see what’s in the kitchen after Alex comes back with your clothes,” Autumn suggested.
Jilly looked at Autumn. “I-I’m not hungry. Thank you anyway.”
Autumn frowned a bit and sat beside the tub again. "Are you sure?" she asked softly. "We have waffles. I know that for sure."
Jilly nodded and hugged herself. She was getting cold. “I’m sure.”
“All right. Why don’t we get you out of this gross water, then? You can rinse off in a shower if you’d like,” Autumn suggested with a small smile.
Jilly looked down at the water. “N-no thanks. I feel okay.”
“All right. I’m sure Alex will be here soon,” Autumn said with a soft smile.
Jilly nodded and continued to have her head dipped slightly. A soft knock came from the door.
“I’ll bet that’s Alex now,” Autumn said softly as she went to open the door.
Jilly hid in the shower curtains as Autumn opened the door. Alex smiled at his girlfriend and handed her some old, but soft clothing.
“Here you go. These should work.”
Autumn smiled as she took them before leaning over to kiss his cheek. “Thank you, babe. Now, let’s let the girl get dressed in peace,” she chuckled, starting to close the door on him.
Alex put his hands on the door. “Aren’t you coming with me? You said “let’s” which is plural,” He proved like a smartie-pants seventh grader.
“I was going to give her the clothes and then come out if she didn’t need me,” Autumn said with a light laugh.
“O-oh. Okay! I love you!” Alex cried as the door was shut.
“Love you, too,” Autumn laughed before fully closing the door and turning to Jillian. She set the armful of clothes on the floor and smiled at her softly. “Do you need my help with anything else? Or should I go so you can get dressed?”
Jillian peered out at her from the shower curtains and shook her head.
“N-no. I don’t need more help.”
“All right, dear. I’ll let you get dressed, then. I’ll be just outside the door if you need me, okay?” Autumn said gently, starting back toward the door.
Jilly reached out for her towel and pulled it over. “Okay. Thank you,” She said politely.
“No problem, dear,” Autumn said softly as she stepped out into the hall, closing the door behind her.
Jilly stepped out of the tub slowly, picking up the towel and drying off. She put on her clothes and looked at herself in the mirror. She felt rather comfy.
And Autumn stood there, staring at nothing. Because she had nothing to do…
Alex was just standing there too, then, though he said he’d wait there for her… blankly staring into space…
Lol. Fine…
“I hope she’s okay. She seems like a really nice kid,” Autumn said softly, glancing at Alex.
Alex grinned down at her. “She did. I hope we can help her.”
(Dude. What if he proposes on page 200? Or is that too far away?)
“Me too,” Autumn agreed, leaning into his side. “I want to find her parents, but at the same time I really like her already…”
(Hmmm depends on how long the hospital scene is and the adopting mess is.)
Alex wrapped his arms around her. “I bet we could still be in contact with her.”
“Wouldn’t that be a little weird, though? I mean, we’re adults, and she’s a kid… She shouldn’t have friends our age…” Autumn murmured, resting her chin on his shoulder.
Alex shrugged. “We saved her life. Or we will, anyway.”
