Alex stayed up most of the night, but he wasn’t too tired. He just went downstairs when he finished and made some breakfast for the girls. He made himself a cup of joe and relaxed into a chair as the bacon cooked.

Autumn stirred, smelling the bacon even in her sleep. She rolled out of bed, rubbed the sleep from her eyes, and headed downstairs.
