"She's done us a monumental favor, keeping Jane cared for in my absence," John explained. "I intend to repay her for her time and efforts,"

"Is there anything you think she would like?" Phillip asked, directing the question more at Jane.
"Not that I can think of…" she thought aloud. "She loves keeping busy and helping people."

"Maybe some kind of productive hobby to pass the time," John spoke. "Like crocheting..?" He attempted.

"Oh, what a smart idea, John!" she enthused. "That would be perfect."
"So you would just need needles and some yarn?" Eli asked.
"That sounds about right," Jane remarked.

John smiled lightly, giving an affectionate glance to his pregnant wife.

"Phillip, would you mind grabbing crocheting needles and yarn from the back?" Eli asked his son.
"No problem, sir. Jane?"
She looked over at him. "Yes?"
A mischievous look filled his eyes. "Do you remember your way around the back?"
She smiled in return. "I believe I do."
Phillip grinned and looked at John. "You don't mind if I borrow her for a bit, do you?"

John felt a few muscles in his face tense. "I… Guess not,"

Jane kissed his cheek reassuringly. "It will be fine, John."

"If you say," he replied unsurely.

She gave him another smile before she turned to follow Phillip.
Eli observed him. "Are you worried about her?"

John hid his hands into his coat pockets. "Not at all," he lied.

"If you are, you don't need to be," he remarked. "They've been friends since they could walk."

He just nodded. Why was he so paranoid anyways? Jane would never fracture their bond of faith.

Jane returned with a smile and the supplies. Phillip was following behind her.

"Thank you," John forced the nicety to Phillip.

"It's my pleasure, sir," Phillip said politely.
"I've already paid him, John, let's go," Jane informed her husband, slipping her arm through his.

"Oh, okay," he breathed, rubbing her back, "Thank you, sirs,"

"Anytime," Eli replied kindly.
Jane smiled once last time at them, then exited the shop by John's side.

"Strange," John murmured.

"What is?" Jane asked, looking up at him curiously.

"He seems very affectionate towards you." He murmured.

Her eyes widened slightly. "Phillip?"

"Yes," John replied skeptically.

"We're just friends," she assured her husband. "There's nothing between us."

He shifted his jaw, "Okay."

"Don't you believe me?" she asked worriedly.

"I do," John looked at her, "I'm… I don't know. Let's just go home."

"Alright," she sighed.
As they continued walking, a thought struck her. "John?"

"Yes…?" Her husband replied quietly.

"Simcoe told me her heard a rumor about you. I know it cannot be true, but I must ask you," she said slowly, making sure to carefully choose her next words. "He told me that you had a rather passionate night with another woman. I know that he made it up, but just tell me it's not true."
