John was out and about with his wife, dipping in and out of family-owned shops in search of a suitable gift.

Jane spotted a familiar shop and hurried toward it with a smile on her face. She pushed open the door and pulled John in as well. "Phillip!"
"Miss Jane! Such a pleasant surprise!"
"It isn't Miss, anymore," she said proudly, eyes shining happily as she looked up at her husband.

John darted after her, "How did you run so fast, while carrying a baby?" He laughed breathily.

Phillip's eyes widened and he came around the counter towards them. "You're pregnant?" he asked faintly.
Jane laughed at John. "It's my secret." To Phillip, she said, "Yes. I've been."
"It's been too long, then," he said meaningfully. "You need to visit here more often!"

John rubbed a hand along his wife's back. "Have I met you before, or has war fractured my memory?" John asked Phillip with a cordial smile.

"I'm afraid it has. I'm Phillip Hart," he said, introducing himself again. "And you're Mr. and now Mrs. John André."
Jane smiled, a shy blush growing on her cheeks. "John, this is my old friend, remember?"

"Can't say I do," he replied, and extended his hand to shake, "Nice to meet you again," he chuckled lightly.

Phillip smiled and shook his hand. He took Jane's hand delicately and kissed it out of respect. "You're a very lucky man, Mr. André, to have this woman."
Jane blushed. "Phillip, stop."

"I am," John smiled widely, looking towards his wife with glittering admiration– nevermind the cold stone of guilt forming in his gut.

Jane hid her face. "You two are making me turn the color of a tomato!"
Phillip burst out laughing.

"Still lovely as ever." John purred.

Edonine was seperated feom him, sent to flank the other side.

Pierre could only watch, a pained expression on his face, as she walked away.

"Still lovely as ever." John purred.

She turned away teasingly. "You are not helping, John!"

Her husband tipped his head back a smidge with a quiet, throaty laugh, "If I didn't tease you, something would be wrong,"

Edonine was seperated feom him, sent to flank the other side.

Pierre could only watch, a pained expression on his face, as she walked away.

She cast a look to him over her shoulder. Not so much fear, this time. It was a forlonr look.

Good luck, he wished her silently, feeling his heart squeeze painfully. Stay safe. Come back to me..

Her husband tipped his head back a smidge with a quiet, throaty laugh, "If I didn't tease you, something would be wrong,"

She giggled as well. "That is true."
Phillip watched them with an admiring gaze.

"So, Phillip," John spoke up, "This is a quaint little shop you have,"

The group of taller men swallowed her up, and disappeared into the veil of trees.

"So, Phillip," John spoke up, "This is a quaint little shop you have,"

"Yes. My father is in the back. I work for him," Phillip said smoothly.
"Oh, how is Eli?" Jane asked excitedly.
"He's perfectly well," he answered with a smile. "How is your father?"
"Well enough," she remarked and he laughed.
"Of course."
"Of course!"

John hated to have it's presence there, but a feeling of suspicion was beginning to form in a hard shell around his guilt. Immediately, he did not trust Phillip, he seemed too kind to his wife.
But again, maybe they were related and they forgot to tell John? Hopefully.

Eli emerged from the back with a smile. "Miss Jane!"
"Mrs," Jane corrected him. She stepped closer to John.
"Pardon me!" Eli's smile grew.

John rested an arm around his wife's shoulders. "Pleasure to meet you,"

"You as well sir," he said, looking John up and down. "Have we met before?"

"I cant say for sure," the British soldier replied.

"John," Jane piped up. "Do you think we can find something for Chadine here?"

"Oh, well," he looked around, "I'm not sure.."

"Who is Chadine?" Phillip asked.
"A dear friend of ours. We're looking for something nice to get her," Jane explained.
