@gracehustle

Alright, so, hear me out. This is one of my half finished story ideas that I want to write but also want to rp so here it is. I know it has a ton of plot holes and needs a lot of explaining to get the basics down so just bear with me, I can explain if you have questions. Here's the very cliche and thrown together plot:

So every year there's this competition, it takes all of the 17-18 year olds from this country and pits them against each other in a series of fights. Basically survival of the fittest since only the top competitors from each section of the country get to return to their families and live out their life (+everything else that happens if they survive). Years and years of these competitions have made most of the women shorter and more lean, while the guys tend to be very tall and muscular. My character (A girl) is one of the many from her area of the country that is chosen to participate in the competition. Your character (A guy) is also chosen. They've never met until the first stage of the competition, when they're on the same team and they have to trust each other to win. One thing follows another and eventually they fall in love, completely trusting one another. It nears the end of the team section of the competition and they don't want to have to eventually fight each other but one of them is bribed by the officials to betray the other and let them be fatally wounded (Or close to it) before the team section ends. The one that is betrayed is completely heartbroken, their sadness and pain turning into anger against the other one. They live and both make it through to the part of the competition where you're on your own. They get paired with each other to fight and the one is still seething mad at the other, ready to kill them. The other regrets what they did with every fiber of their being and wants to at least be forgiven before they die. Depending on what you choose they can either forgive each other and either escape or die, or one can kill the other or something like that.

I can explain how the competition actually works and each section and the country and every other thing you'd like to know about the plot or universe if someone joins and wants to know

Alright…rules now I guess:
-Urm, so, since the whole point of the competition and why the leaders of the country made it is so that every generation is fit and ready to fight, so Lesbian and Gay marriages aren't allowed since they can't produce children without adoption, and things just spiraled out of control from there and now being LGBTQ+ are all considered illegal (I'm sry don't yell at me, I promise this isn't how I feel about LGBTQ+ in real life ;-;)
-this is going to be rated at the very very least PG-14 because of gore and blood and all that jazz (The more the better) along with smut and steamy scenes (the smut and steamy stuff is going to be taken to the PM's tho)
-swearing is allowed
-please, please, please post at least two sentences, I don't like being the one leading the whole rp, make your character do something and you are free to introduce minor characters if you want/need something for your character to do
-If I already am in an one-on-one with you I'd ask you to not join unless no one else does
-I have the right to say no to you, or to ask for you to give an example of your style of rping before I let you join(It doesn't mean I don't like you or have something against you if I say no, I promise)
-please be active, one post a day is the minimum unless you tell me ahead of time that you won't be on
-The character I'm going to be using is the main one in my story, she's a straight girl just to tell you
-I'll add more rules if someone joins along w/ a template

Hey! I don't know if I'm in a roleplay with you or not (I've seen your username around), but could I possibly join? Also, I'm not meaning to be mean/rude (or anything of that manner), but this kinda reminds me of The Hunger Games, which, your idea is really cool (I haven't seen many roleplays focused around this much)!

@gracehustle

Hi! :D I'm pretty sure we're not in a rp together, do you mind giving an example of your writing? (I'm just curious, it'll most likely be a yes) XD I know this is sorta like the hunger games, it's been in the back of my mind for a while and I realized that it was pretty similar to that when I had to type all of the description thing out (Thanks by the way!)

(Oh, no problem! I'm a huge book/movie nerd!)
Example:
Chloe knew that this day would come. The Test. To see if she was eligible to stay in society, to see if that, in a city of powers, she belonged. The thing is, there was a slight problem. While everyone had and embraced their powers, Chloe didn't have any. It was a one in three million chance that she would be born without them, and she had kept her secret from everyone she knew. Including her parents, who happened to be famous and well known for their extravagant and powerful gifts. It was a daily routine for Chloe to lie to her doctor, to avoid the one thing that was worse than death: to be labeled powerless. (Divergent inspired-ish, I also came up with this on the spot…)

@gracehustle

That's awesome! You can definitely join! I can honestly say that I'm a huge book nerd as well, and the Divergent series is one of my favorites :D (Besides the ending of Allegiant…;-;)
I'll get a template up right away if you want, otherwise we can jump in blind

(Ikr? Not spoiling it for stalkers, but they could've ended it better, maybe. It depends on a person's perspective.)
Let's have a template. It's better for me to represent my character that way. Anyways, I think I know who I'm using.

@gracehustle

(That would've been nice, but nope. Veronica Roth has to crush all of my ships..all of them…I honestly almost cried at the end of the book..)
Alright, give me a few minutes to get a template

@gracehustle

Do you want me to post my character first?

Oh! Sorry! Sure!
Q: My character (Griffin), should he be portrayed as a badass (pardon the language) with a soft spot for the weak, or more of the skeptical, observing type, who isn't very social? I'm thinking the first one maybe…because I have a really good idea for an ending. I'm thinking he's the one who's bribed.

@gracehustle

I like the first one, I think it would work out better overall for the rp :)
Give me a little bit to get my character up since I'm on my phone rn(her name is Dierra)

(Unique name, I like it! I also try to use uncommon names)

@gracehustle

(Alright, Sorry this took so long and I only half filled it out, I had class, I promise I'll finish it when I get the time)
Name: Dierra Angevin
Nickname (If they have one): Not at the moment
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Straight
Appearance (Detailed, links are ok, just make sure you describe them): Dierra has average sized greenish brown eyes, Her skin is a pale tan color and she has a few freckles dotting her arms and legs. Her hair is interesting, it's a weird combination of light and dark so a few strands shine a light brown in the sun while the rest of her hair stys a dark brown all the time. She's around the average height for women at 5'4", She wasn't gifted with many curves in her figure and she thinks of it as both good and bad. Her lips are a basic cupid's bow shape and they're a light pink color
Personality: Dierra is stubborn to say the least, she hates having to listen to people and she's not the most patient of people. At the same time though, she can be caring and will easily give someone she loves her food or anything they need. She hates to admit it, but she's quite romantic and sometimes it can cloud her judgment. She can be wild and sporadic and if you make her mad, watch out, you might not survive. She's fiercely loyal to her family and loved ones and she hates being betrayed
Likes: Winning, music (To keep herself relatively calm),her family, training and keeping herself in shape so she can win.
Dislikes: The dark (She doesn't like to tell anyone that), not having anyone to trust and not knowing if she's alone
Deepest fear & secret: Her deepest Fear is that she's not going to win/ amount to anything in life
Background: Alright, basics, her older brother was killed a few years ago in the competition, she's the next in line followed by a younger brother and sister for the competition and her parents are already worried. Her father made sure she knew at least the basics of using gun, a knife, and other weapons and she's quite glad for it.
Quote/s:
-I accept no responsibility and would do it all again
-I'm everything you can't control
-Fate loves the fearless
-I went from a girl who didn't know how to kill to one who knew how to make dying hurt
-Family ain't who your born with, it's who you die for
-fight because you don't know how to die quietly
Favorite song/s, band/s stuff: she listens to a lot of TOP and Imagine dragons, though anything will do if she doesn't have the option
One interesting fact about them: She's left handed and quite good with a variety of weapons
Other: none rn

(Sorry I took a while. Is he good?)
Name: Griffin Carlos Aarons
Nickname: Grif (Maybe)
Age (17-18): 17
Gender: Male
Sexuality: Bisexual (He leans towards women, and he says he's straight to avoid conflict with the government)
Appearance: Griffin is tall and skinny (5'8" and 110lbs), with pale skin and black hair that seems to never be tidy. He usually wears a black jacket with a white shirt and blue jeans. His face is angular and sharp, and his eyes are a pale blue, with dark blue highlighting the outside of his iris.
Personality: He isn't very social, and he doesn't like talking to people much. If socializing, he tries to come off as mean to not attract attention. When it comes to it, he'd rather be silent and observe rather than show off his strength or his agility. He'd be that one kid who'd keep to himself and do things independently, often not a fan of bullying or teasing. Whenever someone usually tries to make him do something, he retaliates, and if he's met with hostility, he'll fight. Griffin would usually win because he's quick on his feet, but also from observing the person beforehand.
Likes: Alone time, Running, and Playing with his younger sister (Ava, 10yrs)
Dislikes: Bullies, Bad people (in general), Snobs, and People who try to use him (ex: make him do all the work just so that they can get an A)
Deepest fear & secret: He has major insecurities, and is worried that once he opens up to someone, they'll make fun of him. He has minor claustrophobia, but he's mainly afraid of being isolated from everything and everyone.
Background: Griffin came from a decent family that cared for him, who encouraged him to do his best. He started getting bullied at age four, and ever since then, Griffin couldn't tolerate anyone bullying people that he cared about. Especially his ten-year old sister, Ava, who he'd be overprotective of. Griffin didn't really know his father (he died when Griffin was young from a heart attack), so he was raised by his mother, looking after his sister. Griffin never liked his stepfather, and he wasn't surprised when he divorced his mother after finding out about Griffin's mother's pregnancy with Ava. Griffin is a hard-worker, always hoping to contribute his part in the family, to be not only the brother to Ava, but to also be the father figure that Griffin never really had.
Quote/s: "I'm sorry? I work alone," "I'll figure it out myself, I don't need help," "Uh, hi. I'm Griffin. Could you…not talk to me? I'm trying to be nice here," "I don't care if you're a girl or a boy, get your ass up and at least try to survive!"
Favorite song/s: Silent by Marshmello, Anything by Alan Walker or Marshmello
One interesting fact about them: Griffin, although allergic to, loves cats, dogs, and birds.

@gracehustle

he's awesome! do you want an explanation on any parts of the competition or should I post a starter?

Is a team consisting of 2 people (boy and girl) like The Hunger Games? Also, are there any major things my character should know that isn't posted above about the Competition? Other than that, I'm good to go (I may have to leave soon, though, so I'll probably answer either later today or tomorrow)!

@gracehustle

In the very beginning of the competition, a team consists of between six to seven people (Usually as close to an even mix of boy and girl as possible). Um….The only major thing I guess is that the competition is divided into different sections, most of the time they are required to stay in their barracks between the competitions (Which last from one to three days in length), though they are allowed to train and do basically whatever they want during that time.
Alright, I'll post a starter as soon as I can, I think I'll start when they are told that they are required to compete in the competition

@gracehustle

Dierra sighed, laying in her bed wide awake even though it was before dawn. Her stomach was filled with dread and anticipation as she watched the minutes tick by, hearing her mother wake up eventually to start preparing breakfast for her small family. Ever since her older brother was killed in the competition her parents had kept talk about the competition to themselves, worrying about their other children.
"Dierra? Are you up?" She heard her mother open the door to her and her sister's shared room and she nodded in response, "The letter just arrived…do you want to see it now?" Her mother's voice was unusually soft and Dierra nodded again, sitting up and walking to the door.

When Griffin awoke, he didn't need to see the letter. He only had to see his mother's face as she handed him the already opened letter in the dining room, where they'd eaten french toast, a favorite among the house. His mother's face was the epitome of despair and loss. His heart dropped. How would his family survive? Who was going to help raise Ava? Griffin stared off into space, wishing for it all to be but a dream. It wasn't. He took the paper and crushed it into his hand, tossing it aside. He went to his room angry. This isn't supposed to happen to me! This happens to other people, not me! He spent the next half hour crying before he prepared himself for the day ahead.

@gracehustle

She walked to their kitchen and grabbed the letter from the counter, opening it nervously, seeing the note that sealed her fate. She dropped the paper and just looked at her mother, who was almost in tears, "It was going to happen one way or another," She said softly, her mother pulling her into a sad hug.
"They come at noon, you're only allowed to bring-" Her mother said weakly.
"I know, one personal item and a set of clothes..can you tell the others? I..I need time to think about this." Dierra said, shaking her head as she walked to their living room and sat down on the old couch, the words on the letter permanently seared into her vision.

What do I bring? What do I bring? The words echoed in Griffin's mind. He ended up choosing a pocket knife that he received when he was ten in boy scouts, leaving behind his first blanket, a picture of his family, and a bracelet his sister had made him that he'd kept for a few years now. He had no one to tell, and he didn't want to tell his sister. She was too young of an age to know death; too innocent to think that her brother would die because of a stupid letter. Griffin holed himself in his room until the authorities arrived, and Griffin gave Ava one last goodbye hug before he was forced out the door into the doors of the unknown, the doors of death. He knew he'd probably never see his family again, but he fought back tears. He was in front of people now, all staring at him in a mix of sorrow and confusion.

@gracehustle

The morning went by in a blur and Dierra kept silent the whole time, only eating a few bites of an apple as her sister and brother tried to convince her to take different objects. She finally settled on a small locket from her father, it didn't have a picture inside though, instead it held a small compass. The authorities came to get her at exactally noon and she gave her family one last goodbye before heading out the door.
There was a simple black car parked outside on the street and the authorities led her to it, pulling open the door and letting her go inside. She sighed and closed her eyes, ready for the trip to the arena that she had heard about so many time before.

Upon arriving at the arena, Griffin was led through the gates. He stared at all the other people who were chosen. Some were like him, nervous but trying not to show it, and some were freaking out, scared for their life. They should. Only the unprepared lose it. Griffin looked at the people who would be on his team, some girls, some boys. He winced as some of the girls and boys on his team were frantic, but he gave the occasional nod to the noticeably calm, including Dierra.

@gracehustle

(K see ya!)
Dierra looked at their team and sighed, knowing that most of their team probably wasn't going to make it through the first few rounds. She glanced up at the new boy who entered, silently deciding that he might just make it.
"Good afternoon contestants, I'm as you all know, Mr. Shamir, the leader of this good country." A man appeared in front of the contestants, standing at the gates to the arena. "There are a few things you should know about this competition before tomorrow when the first rounds begin. The most important rule is, you can't leave, if you do, you will be taken away and killed. Right now you are divided into your teams for the first rounds, these people are your family, help them survive the first rounds." He paused to look around at the contestants before motioning to three tall steel buildings just outside of the arena. "Those are your barracks, your headquarters if you will. Each of the fourteen teams here gets a floor for now, as you go on you'll only have to share with one person though." He continued rambling on about the rules and Dierra sighed, quite curious about the boy from earlier.

God, this is manslaughter, Griffin looked down, shaking his head. He looked around, trying to calculate his chance of survival, but his skinnier than average body gave him an advantage and a disadvantage. He could probably go up against a girl, maybe winning, but he didn't have as much brute strength as some of the boys here. He realized that he might not survive, and he wouldn't ever see his family again. He stiffened his jaw and clenched his hands into fists, feeling a pang of hatred for the society that he lived in.

@gracehustle

Eventually Mr. Shamir finished talking and a few more people came into the arena, all of them were wearing black and each held a clipboard. "These fine volunteers will be escorting you to your barracks, good luck contestants." He said with a slight bow, turning and walking out of the arena.
"Group one," the first person called, looking at their clipboard, "Luna Eveleth, Jonah Ocean, Rumier Benton, Odessa Sage, Oscar Jude. Follow me and I'll escort you to your barracks." The person turned without a second glance and the six teenagers followed her, all of them different in appearance but with the same tough attitude.
Dierra listened to the supposed volunteers call off names and she started to daydream, only snapping back into reality when she heard her name called. "Group thirteen, Dierra Angevin, Griffin Aarons, Adrian Sage, Cosette McGrath, Ari Finch, Cassian Fox and Felix Everett. Follow me to your barracks." The person turned and walked off just like the others and Dierra found herself moving as well, looking around at her new teammates.

Great, I'm paired with absolute strangers. Griffin kept a straight face as he was escorted to their team's barracks, where he went to the back of the room, where people didn't have to socialize with him. He flung himself on a bed and laid there, dormant, trying to figure out a way to not die horribly. He started to hum the melody of Silence softly and closed his eyes, remaining awake and on guard.
