He rolled his shoulders and watched as Ari pulled Adrian into a stiff hug that was not reciprocated before pulling him towards the woods, glancing back at Griffin with one last look of pity and sorry. "Hold that thought." He turned to the rest of the group and motioned for them to leave, "Go find the others of their team and give them no mercy, I want to talk to him alone." He waited until they very reluctantly left, each one giving Griffin a glare. "Now, continue with that thought. Any specific ideas?" It was clear he was being sarcastic as he talked, though his stance said the opposite.
The Competition// one-on-one//Closed
"Let's see…drowning would be rather lengthy-thank god for swimming lessons. You could slit my throat, but then there'd be a bloody mess. Using me against my own team would be wise, but you have no idea if they’re prepared for it or not, or if anyone would make any irrational decisions.” Griffin shrugs, as if his life wasn’t really in danger. “I could try and kill you now, though I doubt I’d be any good against your ‘team’." Griffin acted as if this was no big deal.
(You're back!!! :D)
He seemed to think over each idea, shrugging nonchalantly, as if he wasn’t planning someone’s death. “Well, I already used someone on your team against you, so it wouldn’t be fun to repeat that. There’s no deep enough water to drown you in, and frankly, I don’t want to get blood all over my good clothes.” He motioned to his decently clean clothes and rested a hand on the hilt of a knife, a small grin crossing his face as he studied their surroundings, “Maybe I’ll have to take you up on that offer of trying to kill you the old fashioned way. We could even promise to go with just fists, but you know how that would turn out.”
(Finally! I have no idea how to respond…)
"I can run and hide, maybe, but I can't overpower, of course. Least, not with hand-to-hand." The corner of Griffin's mouth twitches upwards. "Unless you're proposing something, perhaps?" His posture was casual, but his eyes were menacing. Griffin would never die without a fight-something he would honor as long as his family was alive.
(Oof I'm reminded of Prim in The Hunger Games… ;-;)
(Oof That was a sad death ;-;)
He waved a dismissive hand, “My team is long gone, most likely chasing away and killing your teammates one by one. It’s just me.” A flash of a grin appeared and he shrugged, his pose copying Griffin’s down to how relaxed and uncaring he looked, “Though I don’t think that would change your odds of survival at all.”
The other team, was indeed, chasing around Dierra and her other teammates, though mostly they were just trying to scare them and not kill anyone. If didn’t mean they weren’t using weapons though, and both Cossett and Dierra narrowly missed knives to the back, with the one for Dierra stretching along her side in a non life threatening but still able to bleed way.
(Why did she have to die, tho??)
"So what are you waiting for? Someone to tell you to attack me? 'Cuz damn, that would be ironic, doncha think?" Griffin had to stop himself from laughing, but the closest he could do was a snort. "I'm just…surprised you've managed to leash them for this long, like dogs. But sometimes dogs don't like their owner, no? Unless you're really persuasive, then they have no idea that you're pulling the strings."
(You better not kill anyone! (jk, you can) I may be connected to Grif's team…)
(XD there was already one death in this round, that’s enough for me. Be prepared though, they go fast (I’m so mean to my characters XD but I’m so attached to them too so it sucks when I have to get rid of them))
He let out a laugh and pulled his knife out of its sheath, “No, I’m just having my fun letting you get worked up about this.” Flipping it without caring, he shook his head and grinned, “Oh trust me, they’re much more like dogs than you probably realize. I established that I was the leader very early…and yes, I can be terribly persuasive when I want something done.” He sauntered a few steps closer to Griffin and held his knife tightly in his hand, “I think I’ve let you live long enough, anything you want to be said to anyone before I have my fun and eliminate you and your team?”
"Actually, yes." A sly smirk was on Griffin's face. "There's someone behind you. And they don't look too happy."
(Ooh… I don't know if he'd be lying or not…either way would be cool. In the case that he's lying, I'm pretty sure he'd just be putting the leader off-guard so that he could a.) run away, or b.) fight. And then…(insert ten million ideas that my brain thinks of.))
(XDXD I’m actually slightly curious as to what your ideas would be)
The leader’s grip around his knife tightened and he glared at Griffin, debating wether to believe him or not. He whipped his head around with a low growl, deciding not risking getting killed just because he didn’t believe him.
(Uhh…frick idk what to do…
Idea 1: Person behind him is Cas because he didn't believe Ari for one second.
Idea 2: Dierra's there, pulling off a sick move on the leader.
Idea 3: No one's there, and Grif tries to-
a.) Run or
b.) Fight.
Idea 4: No one's there and Grif is almost killed before the rest of the team (Dierra's + Grif's) finds him, leaving the leader to retreat-he think's Grif'll die anyways from blood loss.
So many things…only one option. And I have no idea which one to do…We could do a random number generator?)
(Yeah that would probably be best XD all of those options sound so amazing it’s too hard to choose. I’ll go do that and tell you what number it picks)
(Number two is what it came up with)
(Oof okay XD)
(Just have a good reason for D to be there (ex: Cas told the group and/or D)
(Because technically you're supposed to play as D, b/c I don't want to be mean at all)
(Hides in the corner because I'm insecure)
(XD I already have two reasons as to why she’s there so that’s covered, and yeah XD I know I’m supposed to be playing as her)
(Should I post again and basically just her there and have stuff happen?)
(Probably…)
(Mk, it’s long, but here it is)
Dierra cursed as she felt the knife barely miss her and nick her side, cutting through her shirt and reaching bare skin. She shook her head and grabbed Cossett’s arm, yanking her back away from the rival team and running. Her mind spun with what had happened, Ari and Adrian dashing by them followed by the other team, who promptly split up and started chasing them as well. Their team was scattered. All she could do is run, that is until she reached a clearing.
She stopped right at the tree line and looked at the two people facing each other and talking, one of them with their back turned and the other one clearly Griffin. Dierra looked at Cossett, who’s eyes were trained on their teammate as well. “Stay here,” She whispered fiercely to the girl, who just nodded and slipped into the shadows by the tree Dierra had pointed to. This was going to end in a mess, she could already tell as she sucked in a small breath and started creeping across the field towards them. Her feet barely made any noise and ever so quietly she drew out her knife, one she had grabbed from the ground as they had ran. She made eye contact with Griffin and put a finger to her lips, telling him to be quiet.
“Actually, yes. There’s someone right behind you, and they don’t look too happy.”
She heard the words right as she got behind the person, jumping back as they whipped around with their own knife. Her face showed her concentration as she scowled at the man and attacked, getting in one good swipe across his arm before he realized what was happening and attacked back.
Griffin swung his dagger at the leader from behind (b/c idk if you gave him a name or not (it doesn't matter much, anyhow)), nicking the back of his neck.
"Hi, D. How's the team?" Griffin oh-so-casually says.
“Pretty good, scattered, but good,” She replied in as much of a bored and relaxed voice as she could, jumping back as the leader swiped towards her face before turning and attacking Griffin, “I see you and Ari found A, how’d that go?” Dierra crouched low and got a good swipe to the leader’s lower back, causing him to whip back around with a growl and hit her with a good kick to the stomach. She felt the wind being knocked out of her and she winced, dropping her knife and wrapping her arms around her stomach before the leader could do any more damage.
"S—!" Griffin turns to the leader, a snarl on the tip of his tongue. "You will severely regret that, you know." His voice was a chilling calm as he wiped the blood on his dagger onto his pants. Almost immediately after, he pounced onto the leader, no longer aiming to wound, but to kill.
“Oh will I? Why do you care so much about one little girl, Hm?” The leader snapped back as he whipped back around, demeanor changing and becoming more harsh. It was clear only one of the two of them would survive as they attacked, going to kill.
Dierra just watched through the pain, grabbing her knife again and mustering up the will to stand up and help so Griffin wasn’t alone. She was clearly still hurting as she got to her feet and attacked as well, the leader turning his attention towards her for a moment and aiming a kick towards her again, this time getting her square in the chest. Now that was enough to bring her down, or more accurately, stumbling backwards from the force of the kick and protecting her possibly broken ribs.
(When D gets hurt:
My heart: gets stabbed emotionally)
"You don't know anything about this 'little girl'! And you will not hurt her, dammit!" Griffin shoves the leader to the ground, wrapping his hand around his throat.
"Now you…will let us go. I will not kill you-yet-and what's left of your team will live to see another day. If you're a stubborn piece of crap, I won't hesitate to kill you right here and now. Do we got a deal?"
(XD I feel so bad making any of them get hurt)
Dierra watched as best she could, having sank down with her legs tucked beneath her and her head resting on her knees to try to make herself less of a target and to protect her chest and stomach. She reached out with one hand and felt for her knife, cursing quietly when she couldn’t find it.
“Only one team leaves this arena, remember?” The leader spat, glaring daggers at Griffin as he tried to claw his hands off of his throat, “Unless this match lasts too long, one of our teams is not living to see another day like you claim.” He was clearly trying to figure out a plan to get away and get his hands back on his knife even as Griffin was able to kill him right then and there.
(I KNOW! I swear I'm a pacifist at heart…I also have no idea how to respond.)
(sameeeee also just have him like…do something XD I'm so helpful)
(The oh-so-helpful grace! Here and probably open for business!)
"Well, then, I won't kill you now, how does that sound, amigo?" Grif was gritting his teeth, too engulfed in fury that this 'leader' was going to kill Dierra, so much so that he didn't notice anything, as long as D was okay and the leader was pinned down.
The leader just scowled more and fought against his hands, very very reluctantly giving in. "Fine," He spat, gasping for breath, "Just let me go and you and your 'little girl' can go free..for now." There was no chance to kill them if he couldn't breath.
Dierra was slowly feeling better, though she wasn't going to risk standing up and possibly being kicked again. It still hurt to breath, immensely, and she could feel the bruises from the kicks starting to form.
In getting up, Griffin shoved the leader away. He didn't think he had it in him to even kill him. Then again, he had killed so easily when his team was attacked…
No. He would not become a monster. He wouldn't be one of those winners who went crazy from madness. There would be no way he would present himself to his family like that.
"Dierra, run. Show me where they are, please." Griffin's eyes were dark. He may not become a monster, but he was most definitely going to change. For good or for worse, he didn't know.
She nodded, acknowledging his words as she slowly got to her feet. Her eyes were pressed closed and she just took a moment before motioning for him to follow her. There would be time for rest later, after the team was safe.
Dierra didn't see as the leader gasped for breath but grabbed his knife, eyes focused on her back. "Sorry, can't let both of you out of here alive," He growled, his voice not completely normal from Griffin's hold on his throat. He raised his knife and stood up, charging forward past Griffin and going to stab Dierra in the back with no remorse.
"No!" Griffin spun around, and, without thinking, threw his dagger. He knew where it would hit, and his eyes widened in guilt as the blade pierced the back of his skull. "I-I didn't…He was…" Griffin was suddenly there at the leader's body, not remembering how he'd even got there. He was only a boy. Death shouldn't claim him now. Hell, they were all children!
(Sorry for the cursing! It felt right, and I will gladly stop if you say so!)
(Insta-death or should he say a line to make G feel bad/discover a link to the government?)
(Cursing is fine with me XD just not like every line, and I'm thinking the second option.. :) planssssss are coming to mindddddd)
The leader immediately crumpled to the ground, though didn't die right away. It was clear he was going fast though and his eyes locked with Griffin's. "I probably shouldn't have done that," He got out with a still raspy throat, managing to crack a halfhearted grin.
Dierra whipped around when she heard Griffin yell, eyes widening as she looked down at the leader. Despite her better judgement, she crouched down besides the boy, unsure of exactly what emotions were coursing through her . He was dying, that was clear, and there was nothing they could do about it.
