"Ah good. We'll be a good duo then, flirty Jay and the lovely Eugene!" He chuckled, shaking his head as he thought over that. He would like to at least be friends with Eugene if not more. He was fun to hang around, and he was really liking their compatibility already. "It really does… Thank's again for it all, I like hanging out with you. Lets keep doing things together, become friends,"

"Well, that makes two of us. Lucky for us, we'll be stuck in here for quite a while. And now that we know each other, I don't think it's possible to ignore and stay away from one another. This is the perfect situation really." Eugene already loved Jay, whether it be friendly or something more, he wasn't sure in the slightest.
The timer went off and Gene slid off the counter once again walking with complete calm over to the oven. He put on the oven mitts and took the cookie sheets out of the over, placing them on a cooling rack that he had set out before. "Okay, no eating them yet. They're really hot and crumbly. These cookies set a little as they cool."

group

“You better not ignore me, I’ll be a thorn in your side,” Jay joked, winking as he laughed. “Quarantine might not be so bad now.”
He perked up when the oven went off, excitedly following Eugene as he set the cookies down.
“They set as they cool? I didn’t know cookies could do that.” His eyes widened as he leaned down a little to study the cookies, beaming. “They smell really good.”

"I don't think I would even want to ignore you. You're too great to be ignored, yet I did for the whole school year so take my words as a grain of salt I guess." Eugene giggled. He took off the oven mitts and threw them on the counter. "Not all cookies do, but these ones do. I'm actually not sure why, they just do."

group

Jay shook his head lightly. “Guess we were just busy with our own things.” He offered, smiling brightly.
“Well, either way, I’m excited for them. They look good.”

Eugene nodded in agreement. "I'm excited as well. I'm always down for cookies." He turned to Jay and smiled. "Did we decide on a movie to watch? My brain totally forgot if we did or not." He asked, leaning against the counter.

group

“Cookies are always an option. And as for the movie, I don’t think we did, did we? I can’t think straight right now. The cookies are distracting me.” He grinned and tapped his fingers against his leg as he thought for a moment.
“How about something Disney? Ooor something that’s not too scary. Because I dislike horror stories.”

"I'm in the same boat. No horror movies as long as I'm here. And I good with anything else, honestly." Eugene turned around and turned off the oven, just then remembering to. He had forgotten that there was music playing and that was just coming back to him. He smiled and bobbed his head a little to the song.

Jay stretched out his arms and sighed gently, looking around their apartment for a moment. “How about Aristocats? It’s a good movie. Old though.” He chuckled gently, leaning against the counter again.

Eugene's eyes went wide. "I totally forgot all about that movie! Let's watch that one for sure." His smile grew. This movie-night almost sounded like a kid's dream. Surrounded by cookies and cupcakes, watching a classic Disney movie. But Gene didn't mind in the slightest. He almost preferred it over an intense movie with fighting and drama.

group

“It was my favorite all through my childhood.” Jay turned his eyes to the ground and smiled. “I love it still. Hopefully it’ll be fun! We can eat the rest of those cookies and some of the cupcakes if you’d be alright with that.”

"Of course I'd be okay with that. I made them to be eaten, and if that happens all in one night it'll still be well worth it." Eugene smiled and turned to the cookies to see if they had cooled. They weren't quite cooled yet. He sighed. "As much as I love cooking, I hate waiting for them to cool, I'm impatient when it comes to sweets."

group

Jay smiled to himself, hiding his face away as best he could so Eugene wouldn’t see how happy he actually was that this was all happening.

“It is a pain to wait. Sometimes you just want to eat them right off the pan. But then they’re too hot or not set quite yet and that makes things difficult.”

"You know what, I'm gonna have one, it'll still be good. You should take one as well!" Eugene said excitedly, already reaching for a cookie. He grabbed one but didn't bite into it yet, wanting to wait for Jay before doing so.

group

“Don’t mind if I do!” He grinned excitedly and grabbed a cookie, biting into it immediately. He giggled as it fell apart slightly in his hand, eyes lighting up at the taste.
“They’re really good!!!” He purred, giggling some more

It would have been a crime if Eugene hadn't smiled at Jay's reaction, he had found it… adorable. In any case, he took a bite as well. It was indeed very good. It was one of his favorite cookie recipes after all. "Oh man, I almost forgot how good these were!" He took another bite, having the same reaction of a bright smile and a quiet sigh of satisfaction.

group

Jay smiled brightly when Eugene also responded in a positive, letting his eyes drift across his face. “You’re a good baker, Eugene. I’m really enjoying it all. Where did you learn how to bake like this?”

Eugene's smile grew even more at the compliment. "Mostly from my grandma and grandpa, they opened a bakery together when they were younger so they have a lot of experience. I also took any available baking classes in high school. Of course, there's always Youtube as well." He explained happily.

group

“Amazing. So it runs your family? And of course the hard work you put in won’t be forgotten. I still can’t cook for anything! But I can draw food! I usually stick to my portraits, though, I like capturing personalities in a portrait. You can tell a lot about someone by the way they hold themselves you know.” Jay chuckled lightly, bringing a hand up to his face to trance along his jawline.
He never drew himself.
Eugene was right when he had said that Jay was an acquired taste. Unfortunately, Jay didn’t like that taste very much. He hated his own face, his own flavor and personality. Such a drastic difference than his own taste in literally everyone. That was to be expected of a pansexual artist with self-confidence issues.
“None of my family are artists though, I’m the black sheep in more ways than one, you know.”

Eugene listened to Jay, smiling all the while. As much as he liked talking himself, he really liked listening to Jay. Was this his subconscious hinting at any feelings towards Jay or was it just the way he spoke? Gene wasn't sure. "I'm really excited to see your drawing of me, I'll try to get you a picture tomorrow so you can get to it as soon as you want to." He was going to shift his gaze to Jay when he said that, but he found that he had already been looking at the other.
"And it's sometimes cool to be the different one, you get to shine in your own light instead of being compared to the skills of your family." He assured. In all honesty, he did wish that he had a different skill than, almost, his whole family had. Although, he wouldn't give up cooking for basically anything.

group

“I’m more than excited to draw you. I’ve always wanted to if I’m being completely honest.” Jay took a moment to admire Eugene’s face. The contours and dips looked so fun to recreate.
“You just have a drawable face. Take that anyway you want.” He giggled softly, finishing off his cookie moments later.

“You’re right, it is good to be different sometimes. It would be boring if we were all the same, then people wouldn’t be as fun to draw.”

"Well, I'm going to take it as a compliment, so thank you! But have you just been looking at me, instead of saying 'hello' to me these past months?" Eugene asked with a teasing giggle. He finished his cookie just after Jay and fought the urge to grab another one. Like he had 10 minutes before, he jumped back a little to sit on the counter, still facing Jay.

group

Jay blushed lightly, laughing softly. “Maybe I was too busy admiring the view. Sometimes I forget myself, you know.” He watched Eugene with a small laugh, leaning back slightly. “Alright I promise I’m done with the shameless flirting.”

"Oh there's no need to stop, I don't get flustered easily. So I say you should make it your personal challenge to change that." Eugene was having too much fun already. Maybe it was just the fact that they were isolated and he hadn't seen anyone since they had started quarantine. Or maybe it was true, that the two of them were just a good pair.

group

“Hmm, maybe I will make it a challenge. I’m going to find out what flusters you, watch.” He flashed a crooked grin, but burst into a fit of laughter. “I would love to say I’m the same way but I can be flustered with a lot of things.”

person_off

"I'm ready. But who knows what quarantine is gonna do to me. I'll either build up an even better fluster tolerance or you'll break down any tolerance I have and I'll be flustered when a teacher calls on me to answer a question." Eugene giggled, watching Jay's fit.

"Not to totally change the subject, but I bet the cookies are at their prime right now, so I think we should start the movie. What do you say?"

group

“Oh hopefully that would be hilarious.” He teased, taking a deep breath to calm his fit. “I don’t think the confident Eugene could ever get that flustered.”

His eyes flickered to the cookies, a soft nod and a bright smile answering Eugene’s question right away. “Hell yeah. Want to watch it in my room or yours?”

"Who has the best seating, though? That's the question. How 'bout you figure that out while I get the cookies in a container and stuff." Eugene didn't wait for an answer before hopping off the counter and grabbing a spatula and a big bowl to put the cookies in. He was scooping cookies off the pan and into the container.

group

“Ah, I only have my bed and an office chair. Do you have any seating? I’m cool with either room, though.” He told Eugene, wandering to his room and peeking his head inside. It was a good thing he had cleaned up, it looked nice.

“May I look into your room, real quick?” He asked Eugene, looking back at his handsome roommate.

"Of course," Eugene said loud enough for Jay to hear. His room was also pretty clean, only his backpack and a few papers still on the floor from when physical school ended. He was just too lazy to do anything about them. He had his bed and one of those net/bungee cord chairs.
