"Cool. When does the big light come up? I need to head back before." Ash said, looking around for a window.

"the sun? why do you need to head back?" He asked setting the snake back in its enclosure.

"Too bright! hurt. Sleep when bright light."

"ah, where do you go?" he asked as he closed the box.

"Home. cave. dark there." he said, sitting on the floor.

"would you like to stay here? there is no windows for the big light to come through, only my lights I turn on" he offered.

"No, need to see friends and get small soft thing." He said, not knowing the correct word for his plushie.

"ah, you have friends, are they like you?" he asked, checking the time.

"No. smaller. more legs. they dont glow."

"ah, well I guess you should be going now, I have to work in a few hours anyway. " He led the way back up the stairs.

"okay! can i come back and see the pretty lights tomorrow?" Ask asked, following him.

"yes, anytime you would like" he led Ash to the exit.

Ash smiled. "Okay! bye!" He said, walking out, smiling. He flew to his cave, where he met up with a colony of regular moths, grabbed his stuffed bunny, and got ready to sleep, happy that he made a friend.

Nikias went back to his basement, sitting on his desk and finishing his sketch of the creature he had met, also finishing his notes.

The next night, Ash came back, holding his stuffed bunny, and sitting outside the kitchen window.

Nikias got home from his work late and headed to the kitchen, turning on the light and unlocking the door for Ash. He then went down to his basement to feed the creatures.

Ash tried the door, and finding it unlocked, he went in, and sat down on the floor, waiting for Nikias.

Nikias came up from the basement a few moments later, wiping his hands off on his pants, "oh- hello" he greeted Ash, "would you like some food?"

Ash nodded slightly. "Do you have berries?"

Nikias went over to the fridge and pulled out a thing of strawberries and raspberries, "yeah, none of my… interesting creatures eat them, and I don't either." he handed them to Ash.

Ash smiled, putting one up to his mouth, biting down slightly, sucking the juice out of them before eating the flesh of the berry. "Thanks! they taste good."

"I am glad you like them" he smiled slightly.

He smiled back, eating more. "I'm glad you won't hurt me."

"Why would I hurt you?"

"Most humans do. I'm glad you dont." He said, still enjoying the fruit.

"I enjoy interesting things, why would I ruin them?" he tilted his head.

"dunno. Most humans think im a monster." He said, still smiling.
