I'm still confused, but ok. So for the river, what will you find across it?

Maybe the river, it like the border for the time realm?

@kat_i_am

I need it to be in the realm of time bc I think I'm gonna kill one of them lol
OOH YES A RIVER BORDERING THE REALM OF TIME

Now I'm afraid to go to sleep, because I'm going to lose all these ideas..

Whats on the other side of the time realm?

@kat_i_am

Just brain dump them and I'll look through them while you sleep.
What do you mean? Like… WL is on the right and Time is on the left and what's to the left of time? IDK maybe it goes on forever bc time never ends?

@kat_i_am

Yeah just brain dump them all and we'll talk over them in the morning

Maybe so like Wonderland, time, and then Earth??

Are there any magical items in wonderland?

@kat_i_am

Hmm… idk, I'll have to think about dimensions/realms/all that jazz later. That's my least favorite part of worldbuilding lol cause I can never decide

@kat_i_am

oh yeah def I just don't know what those items are yet

OH maybe so like Time is a border between Neverland and Wonderland and then like Earth and be on top?

oh yeah def I just don't know what those items are yet

Do you know what you plan to use the items for?

nope! I'll figure it out later lol. I have my big overarching plot but I also need smaller plots to make up the bulk of the novel between alice becoming Queen of Hearts and the final battle. I figure I'll make up items as I go.

Everyone hate the queen of hearts since she was evil so alice killed her?

@kat_i_am

IDK that either yet. I feel like if Alice kills her, then it kind of takes away from Alice's childness/innocence that I'm planning to use as an important plot thing, but I can't decide how I get rid of her? Maybe she dies in the battle between the red and white queenships (like how through the looking glass is a chess game) but idk yet

@kat_i_am

besides, alice takes the youth from "criminals" (some of whom aren't really criminals) so IDK if she'd be that great of a replacement for an evil queen lol

Maybe the Queen of Hearts died and the throne was left empty so Alice takes over?

@kat_i_am

Ooh yes, that could work. And I was also wondering how to use "off with their heads" in the story, but now, maybe Alice is like “no more of that. Cutting off ppl’s heads is bad. I won’t be bad like the old Queen of Hearts”

Yeah, that would work really well.

@kat_i_am

Awesome, ty! I know you gotta go to bed, so do that. I'd love to talk more tomorrow though, and brainstorm/bounce ideas off?

Yeah sure! THanks for letting me brainstorm with you!

So I know I am late to this party (pun fully intended) but I thought I may as well drop a few ideas that occurred to me upon scrolling through the other ideas. :)

The River that causes or cures madness, depending on your state of sanity:
I don’t see why it can’t be ALL the water in Wonderland - as long as it’s most potent closest to the source. And no-one knows for sure where the source is, because even if you get there with the locator potion, the source will probably shift once you’ve gone. (It is Wonderland after all.)

The potency of food and drink:
Perhaps if a person is genuinely hungry and/or thirsty, the crazy effects of Wonderland food are less crazy. Which could mean greed leads to bad side effects.

The original Queen of Hearts:
Really, wanting everyone’s heads off, she’s as mad as the Mad Hatter. Perhaps for a similar reason? Is there something she sought through tea-potions that messed with her sanity?

I don’t know how dark you’re allowing for in your story (since the original stories are quite lighthearted) but it would make sense if once she’d ordered the execution of perfectly innocent people (the maid who spilled some tea, the gardener who planted white roses instead of red) the townsfolk (or townscards, or towns-chess-pieces) had an uprising and it was off with HER head (à la French Revolution).

I think the creepiest thing to me in fiction (and irl) is when people are fake overly happy

So you could use that for the staff of the evil king/queen's castle or something

Wait, for the final battle, maybe you should have alice cut off peter's head or have peter do that………..
