He turned. "I am not a coward!" he snapped. I have faced wars…kings…emperors…Rome's Colosseum…why is this so hard?

"Then why are you running away from me?!"

"Because I don't want to die!" He replied.

"I'm not a murderer!" Astra started to raise her voice

"I didn't say you were!" He shouted. "I didn't say you were." He said softer. "But that doesn't mean I won't die."

She flinched when she yelled, but quickly recovered, Baffled, she grabbed his arm with a tight grip. "What do you mean? Are you allergic to humans or something?"

He pulled his arm from her grip. "No. I just…" Am an immortal that loses my immortality when I fall in love.

She grabbed his arm again. "Just what?" she demanded

He shook his head. "Nothing, just… please leave me alone!"

A determined look took over her face. "No."

Winter raked his hands through his hair. "Please!"

"You aren't gonna die if you become my friend!"

"Well, no, but…" You will. You'll grow old and die, or…

"Please? I mean, your face practically tells me you want to be my friend-" she seemed almost desperate at this point

"Astra, I can't." He said.

"I won't stop bothering you until you say yes, you know!"

"Then bother me! I don't care!" He snapped, walking outside.

She followed him. "Won't that be so annoying?"

"Yes." He replied, walking away at a quick pace, hands in his pockets.

"Wouldn't it be so much easier to just become my friend?"

"…no." he said after a minute.

"What would make you die?!" She asked, starting to get annoyed with his stubbornness.

"None of your business!" He snapped. "Please just…stop."

"Why should I? I see no harm in pestering you"

"Yeah, well you don't see everything, now do you?"

She grinned, and took his question literally. "Actually I do! I have 20/20 vision!"

"Oh my God." He groaned. "I wasn't serious."

"Not serious about what? Declining me?" She asked, a hopeful (and somewhat smug) smile plastered on her face.

He swore under his breath in a myriad of languages.

"I'll take that as a yes!" She jumped and did a cute little dance
