She rubbed the back of his hand gently with her thumb. "It's going to be okay." She gave him a small smile. Rylan wanted to believe that so much.

“I hope so..” Santiago murmured softly. He glanced toward the small window, and saw the shadow of someone approaching. He let go of her hand quickly and sat back as a guard walked to his post.
She looked to where Santiago glanced. A Republic soldier walked passed the cell. They waited a minute or two for more soldiers, but none arrived. Rylan focused her gaze on Santiago again.

“I’m kind of surprised I was even let in here. Alec was extremely strict about you,” Santiago said lowly. He crossed his arms over his chest loosely.
She frowned. "Sure, I did break the law, but he seems to hate me more than he should. The way he looks at me. . . like its not me that he's mad at."

Santiago nodded in agreement. “He seems like he lost someone maybe, and he’s using the anger from that to take it out on others.” He ran a hand over his face, exhaling sharply.
She bit the inside of her cheek as she thought. "He's an interesting person. . ."
pets
“Yeah, obviously.” Santiago leaned forward in the chair, resting his elbows on his knees. “I wish there was a way to get you out of here, at least for a little bit. It’s not healthy to go without sunlight and fresh air.”
"Healthy isn't exactly your commanders first priority." She added. "But, I don't know if I can leave. . . aren't there new shifts every hour?"
pets
“Yeah. The guards switch out every hour or two,” Santiago responded. He arched a dark brow, wondering what she was getting at.
"You decide shifts, yeah?" Rylan asked. "Since you're second in command."
pets
“Correct. I set up the schedules,” Santiago said. “What are you getting at with all of this?”
"You decide shifts. Tell them to take the shift off since I usually sleep at that time. Then, you'll just take me to a 'different' room for more 'interrogation.' " She explained. "It's a faulty plan, but that's the most we could do."

“It sounds like a good idea. But what if something goes wrong? Both of us will end up getting seriously hurt,” Santiago said, worry in his tone.
"If something goes wrong, just say I got out of my cell." She explained. "Don't worry, it'll be okay." Her eyes glinted with mischief.

Santiago forced a slight smile and nodded. “Alright, we can do it tonight.” Despite how confident he sounded, he only had one thought on his mind, and that was ten high possibility of them both being shot.
"Where do you want to go?"
pets
“We could hide out in the slums? Stay low for a few days and figure out what we should do next,” Santiago suggested.
She leaned closer. "What about your friend. . . Flynn." She murmured. "Will she come?"
pets
“Maybe, I’d have to ask her about it.. I know that she didn’t like the idea of how we are handling this, but I don’t know if she is willing to technically defect from the military,” Santiago explained.
She frowned. "We could leave now. . . then send a message for her. If we told her about this now, it could jeopardize our safety." Rylan explained, running a hand through her hair.

Santiago exhaled slowly, nodding. “Okay, you’re right. I can get to my computer and mess with the schedule, then come back and get you.”
She nodded. "Watch out, yeah?"
( should something happen? LIke Alec corners Santiago? )
pets
(Yeah, something intense.)
“Will do, compañera,” Santiago said, smiling. He got up and went to the door, watching for the guard for a moment before slipping out.
( mk, I can rp for Alec. He'll corner you once you leave your apartment)
pets
(Okay, cool.)
Santiago left the cell area and went up a few floors to where his apartment was. He went inside and immediately went to his computer. He sat down and logged on, typing away for about ten minutes. He adjusted the schedule and made a gap in between one of the upcoming switching times that occurred in about an hour and a half. In the mean time, he shoved a few things, including his laptop, into a black backpack. Once it was almost time for the shift change, he stuffed his wallet into his back pocket and left his apartment, turning back to face the door and lock it.
The sound of footsteps filled the hall. In no time, Alec was behind him. As Santiago turned around, Alec's piercing green eyes met his brown ones.
"And where are you going?" He asked in a cold tone.

Santiago almost ran into Alec when he turned, and he stiffened slightly upon hearing his tone. “I’m going to visit family for a day or so, my grandmother has recently fallen ill, and I haven’t visited in a while.”
Alec nodded, but his expression didn't change.
"My guards told me you visited the girl. . . again." He stepped even closer, his tone dangerous. "She's an enemy of the Republic. Don't tell me that you're interested in her."
