It took Alison several tries to get the screens to show her anything she recognized. There were notes all over the various controls, but they were all in different languages, none of which she understood. Probably the Master's notes, since the writing was small and neat, even if she couldn't understand the writing. The Doctor, thought Alison to herself, would probably write in English anyway. He was the most English alien she'd ever met. Still, by trial and error and with the firm belief that the Master would never be so careless as to leave a self-destruct button out in the open, Alison managed to get the screens into some sort of main menu. She paused to savor her triumph and the screen the Doctor had shown her crackled with static. She made a face and turned toward it as a familiar figure filled the frame. "Miss Chenkie, and the… other one?" the general asked. "It's Cheney, and this is Nico." said Alison, firmly, to the general. "How can I help you?" she said. "My apologies. We would like to know if the Doctor can help us end this war quickly. In the most…merciful way possible." the general asked. Alison raised an eyebrow. That was an unexpected turn. "How so?" she said, hoping that the request hadn't anywhere near the dark implications she had read from it. "We know you have tremendous off-world technology. Surely you have something that would allow us to end the rebellion in an instant, preventing the tremendous loss of life on both sides as we needlessly struggle against each other. This meets your approval?" the general asked.
One on one? (Closed!)
(Sorry my answers are so short I'm at the homecoming football game and I'm dying mentally.)
Nico looks at the other. "I'll go get the doctor."
"No, no, you needn't bother him." the general said, as if they were small children, barely any respect in their tone. Alison narrowed her eyes. What the general was saying and what he obviously meant were two very different things. "You could end this war today, if you spoke with the rebels. They're ready to talk, as we told you." she said. "Ah," said the general, "but we are not ready to talk. We are ready to win. You can see that helping us will result in a better outcome for everyone than if we are forced to continue alone, yes?" "Are you giving us an ultimatum?" asked Alison through gritted teeth. "Help you kill or leave you to kill more?" she asked bitterly. "If you like," said the general, not an ounce of any recognizable sentiment moderating its tone. Alison was sure now that that was because the alien didn't much care, rather than because she was crap at reading it. "No. We'll find another way. We told you, the Time Lords will have something to say about this." she argued. "Don't you agree, Nico?" she turned to the other, waiting for his opinion.
(Sorry my answers are so short I'm at the homecoming football game and I'm dying mentally.)
(I feel your pain, homecoming… is not pleasant.)
Nico narrows his eyes at the general. "First off, we are not children. You'll respect us. We're going to talk to the doctor and keep your tongue or I will make sure we don't support you."
"I never said that either of you were, although you do look a little young for negotiations." the general sneered. "Es'cue me? Don't go insulting Nico, he's far more intelligent than you, and I would honestly trust him to make the right choice to end this war, if it were up to me." she glared. "Unfortunately, it isn't up to you." the general said, deadpan.
Nico looks at her and nods in thanks. "I am a commander at Camp HalfBlood." He says casually. He looks at the general. "In a way it is, since Alison, The Doctor and I come up with the solution together."
"And what about your second ambassador?" the general said sarcastically. "Huh? Oh, right, that Corsair bloke. What about him?" she said. "Well, I assume you will meet with him for further negotiations?" the general asked. "Yeah, sure. If you see him, just tell him that we're discussing options for negotiations and we'll need his vote of something." Alison said. "Very well, we shall await your call." the general said, cutting the feed. The screen went black, Alison simply say there for a few moments before standing up. "Let's find the Doctor then, shall we?" she asked.
(Good morning!)
(Just thought you should know, I'll be going to a GeekFest/Convention so I probably won't be online most of the day. Cheerio!)
(I'm back! Way too much social interaction…. I'm basically hiding in my room like the lonely potato I am. But GeekFest was fun, even if I am really tired from it. Nearly had a panic attack in there twice tho, wasn't the most fun. The rest was pretty cool, lol. How are you doing?)
Nico sighs and rubs his eyes, tiredly. He shakes his head. "What?"
(Migraine, but I'm good.)
(Ah, migraines suck.)
"Well, we'd better get cracking if we're going to end this war and get a little peace and quiet, so I guess talking with the Doctor would be a logical place to start. He'd know what to do." Alison suggested.
Nico nods and straightens. "Let's go."
"Okay, let's go find him then." Alison said, standing up and starting to walk out of the room.
He follows after her, his eyes narrowed, watching the female before looking at Will.
Alison walked down the corridor. The corridor she was currently going down ended in a door. She opened it, and was in the familiar room of the library. The Doctor was nowhere in sight, but his voice floated around the high arches of the ceiling. "No, I do not think we should just 'blow them up.' You're showing an unfortunate lack of imagination." the Doctor's voice echoed from somewhere in the room. "You would rather I came up with a more entertaining way of killing them?" came the Master's voice, low and amused. "My, what a change." he chuckled. "No, no, no, no, no. Look, go get me some tea or something if you're not going to be helpful." the Doctor said. "I'm trying, Doctor. But you aren't helping by sulking and automatically protesting before you've even heard what I have to say. It's possibly one of the most unattractive habits you've attained in this regeneration." the Master criticized. Alison started to walk toward the voices, glancing between shelves. "You're trying to be funny, aren't you," said the Doctor. "You're up to something, and you're trying to distract me by being charming." he accused. "Charming, Doctor? You do know how to flatter me." the Master said. "I'm serious, stop it. It's unnerving. You've been mad at me all day." the Doctor whined. "Perhaps I've just decided to let it go," said the Master. "One of us has to be capable of acting mature." Alison could see them now, the Doctor lying back on an overstuffed plush red sofa, his head resting in the Master's lap. The latter was reading some book Alison didn't understand the language of, it was the same geometrical writing that nearly everything in the TARDIS was labeled in, save the kitchen. "Miss Cheney. How was your monitor experience? Is there news from the front?" the Master said, moving to stand up but finding himself incapable due to the Doctor's presence. "Monitoring was terrible," she said, momentarily derailed from her message. "I couldn't read any of the instructions you've left on the screen. Oh, and yes, I just spoke with the general," she continued as the Master raised an eyebrow. "Doctor, they're not going to meet with the rebels. The general wants us to use our 'superior technology' to win them the war." she explained.
Nico nods to confirm what Alison is saying. "They want us to join them. The general doesn't care about the people, or the other side. All it wants is to win, using our technology. I say we don't help them and we help the rebels. Case closed."
"It's not so simple as all that, I'm afraid." the Doctor said. "It would be best to talk to the civilian government-" "They're fighting a rebellion. There is no civilian government, and believe me, I would know." the Master pointed out. "Okay, so why don't we side with the rebels?" Alison asked. The Doctor muttered something unintelligible, Alison decided not to push further on the matter and assume that he had just said something that made sense. That was how most of her conversations with the Doctor normally went, so she was unfazed, simply annoyed.
Nico snorts, "I'll be taking care of Will." He says, walking swiftly past them and towards where the son of Apollo rested.
"But won't the Time Lords do something about it?" Alison asked. "Them? Don't be so foolish. They coordinate-locked the TARDIS and left me here to deal with it, if you really think that they'd offer any further assistance then you're gravely mistaken. And honestly, if they really think sending the Corsair would have been remotely useful, they certainly did miscalculate things. Alison, I know far more of the Time Lords than you, so believe me when I tell you they won't be of any help." the Doctor said. "Yeah, I don't know anything because you never tell me anything." Alison muttered under her breath.
(Hi! Just got back from the evening church service. Wanna RP?)
Will and Nico talk quietly and Will shakes his head. Nico nods and returns to the others.
"Okay, does anyone have a plan of action. Not just and idea to form a plan around, I mean an actual plan?" Alison asked. "Well I for one-" the Master was cut off by the sound of someone knocking on the door. The Library wasn't very far away from the entrance, you could hear if someone was knocking. "Okay, who's going to get the door then?" Alison asked awkwardly.
"I'll get it." Will says softly, looking around.
"No, I'll get it, don't worry." the Doctor said, sitting up and sprinting out of the room. "Well that's a mercy, my legs were falling asleep." the Master said, standing up and stretching. "You're a robot. Are your legs technically able to do that?" Alison asked. "They happen to be highly realistic legs, my dear Miss Cheney." the Master said, unamused by Alison's comment on his robotic nature.
Will sits back down and sighs quietly, looking around. He takes a breath and rests against Nico.
"….. We were getting along just fine, I don't need any further assistance. Is there any other reason for you to be here?" the Doctor's voice floated from the corridor and into the Library. "Well, as it so happens I was talking to the general and it seems negotiations didn't go so well. Are you sure you should be trusting humans with matters as important as these?" a second, vaguely familiar voice said. "Corsair, I would trust them with my life, and I have. Believe me. I thought you weren't one of those stuffy prats from the Gallifreyan CIA, but I must be mistaken." the Doctor said snidely, walking into view with the Corsair following close behind. "I'm not… it's just that…" the Corsair stopped in his tracks the moment he saw the group, and one particular memver of it. "Oh, you have got to be kidding me." the Corsair said, glaring in the direction of the Master. "Okay, I know that this might look bad but I swear, it's not completely what it looks like-" the Doctor stammered out, unable to come up with any excuses or explanations otherwise.
Will and Nico glance at each other. "You should go with them Nico." He says softly. Nico nods and kisses his forehead. "Be safe, kay?" Will nods and smiles weakly.
"In case you want further clarification, it's exactly what it looks like. I am indeed travelling with the Doctor, we have a sort of truce, if you could even call it that, as it's far more nuanced." the Master said, bored. "Like Rassilon I'd believe that, I'm used to you lying. Doing far worse than that, even." the Corsair said, storming closer. "You're by definition the most evil being in the universe, and I'm supposed to believe that you've gone cold turkey in being evil and dedicated your life to doing good works? Let alone travelling with, if I recall correctly, your arch-nemesis who you would kill at any chance you got?" the Corsair barked. "Oh, by no means. I'm still the, as you said, most evil being in the universe, but there isn't much harm I can do as I'm unable to leave the good ship TARDIS. As for my… relationship with the Doctor, it's difficult to explain," the Master said. "Fiancee might be taken to have a more serious meaning by most humans, so I wouldn't use that. I'm far too old to be considered his boyfriend, this would also strike a blow to my dignity and the entire house of Oakdown's dignity, so I shall not have you be using that term either. Merely his companion would be agonizing to hear one accuse me of, I suppose that his friend, partner, lover even, and above all his dearest companion would be appropriate." he finished. "I don't believe any of that could possibly be true, otherwise I'm most certainly going mad." the Corsair said. Suddenly, a hard blow to the Master's face knocked the android back a little, the Corsair breathing in and out slowly, his fist still clenched. "AND WHAT ABOUT ALL THE OTHERS, HUH? EVERYONE YOU'VE KILLED OR TORTURED, I'M SUPPOSED TO LET THAT GO? THE GENOCIDE? THE BRAINWASHING? EVERY PLANET YOU'VE TAKEN OVER, THE CIVILIZATIONS YOU'VE DEVASTATED?!" the Corsair roared. However, the Master seemed to be unfazed. "Please attempt to refrain from striking me, this is hardly the way for a supposedly noble Time Lord to comport him or herself. I won't deny doing any of that, but I don't have any regrets either, barbarism won't change this fact." the Master's words were patronizing, his tone was steady and calm despite the other man's violent outburst.
