The Doctor looked over to their destination. "Ah, soon be there! Let's go!" he said, taking off and flying to the roof. "Stairs, down them, no time to waste." he said. The mobile phone in his pocket began to ring. "Hello, this is the renegade Time Lord known as the Doctor who travels through all time in space, passing through, helping out, etcetera etcetera, if this is Gallifrey, I'm actually a little busy, leave a message for my android." he said absentmindedly. "Your android can hear you, dearest, although I remember you claiming quite the opposite last night when we were-" the Doctor cut his companion off before the conversation could take an awkward turn. "Have you got my maps, blueprints, anything?" he asked. "The building you've requested for your time period and current location doesn't exist, I'm afraid. Now, as it so happens, I-" the Doctor hung up before the Master could finish saying whatever unhelpful comment or unsolicited advice he had in mind. "Strange, very strange indeed. Well, Alison and Will see down there certainly, we should go in to help them. Coming with?" he asked.
One on one? (Closed!)
Nico walks after the doctor, listening to the conversation. He nods. "Like hell I'm leaving you to do everything alone." He mutters, rolling his eyes. "Especially when it involves my boyfriend."
"I normally have to do everything alone, it hasn't killed me yet. Well, it has killed me, but that's a long story." he said, walking down the stairs.
"No matter how many times you regenerate, pain is still with you. You just have to choose who you're going to go through pain with. Will was my answer. I'm guessing the master was yours." He walks past the doctor, his black mini ponytail bouncing with him as he does so.
"Actually, he caused most of my pain. But after I lost An- after I saved him from what one would consider as something along the lines of certain death, it… got better. Took twenty-seven years for us to get to the point where we could have a civil conversation." the Doctor sighed. "Back at the Academy, oh, he was brilliant. Always so fast, witty, top in all classes. I had a little crush on him at the time. We were inseparable for quite a while, but then I met a woman, got married, and started a family. Our paths diverged from that point, he wanted to travel, I wanted to have a normal life. Ended up I started travelling too, with my granddaughter. My wife had… well, you know how these stories always go. Heartbreak and all that." the Doctor looked away. "But enough about Gallifrey, that bit of my life was hardly significant. We should get back to the task at hand."
Nico listens, nodding when appropriate. "From what Alison describes, the two of you were very close." He replies, but cracks a smile. "Yes, let's."
"We were." the Doctor said, although a tad bitterly for some unknown reason. As they came to the bottom of the stairs, voices floated down the hall. "…. still unconscious, poor thing. Wonder who that girl was?" Kate's strong, almost commanding, yet tender voice echoed. "Well, I'm sure that I'll be able to carry him a bit farther, hopefully we can get back to the Doctor." Cece's high and energetic yet grounded voice responded. "And Nico too. God, he must be worried." Alison said, walking into the hall they were in. "Doctor? Oh, you idiot." she said, running up to him and burying her face in his coat. "You stupid, bloody idiot, I was so worried and…" she trailed off into mumbles of "idiot" and "thought I lost you".
(Sorry for late responses, I was a bit busy. I'll be going to rock climbing classes now so I won't be back for a few hours, sorry! See you later!)
(I'm back! Sorry I'm so late, traffic was horrific. If you're online, wanna RP?)
(It's okie!)
Nico hears the voices, stopping his his tracks. When he sees Alison he smiles, chuckling as she hugs him. Then he sees Will. The son of Apollo was limping slightly, looking tired and defeated. His usually tan skin was far to pale for a sun god's child. He rushes towards Will, nodding at Cece before wrapping Will in a tight embrace. Will hugged back, resting his head on his shoulder.
"How romantic. We need to leave, and like, now." Cece pointed out. "Fair enough. I, ahem, borrowed a helicopter to get here, it's a few floors up though." the Doctor said. Suddenly, the floor beneath them started to shake and churn, knocking the group off their feet. "I have reason to believe the Axos craft is underneath the building. It's most likely waking up, so we'd beat be off." he added.
Nico nods and picks Will up gently. "Let's go. I need every one to hold onto me." He says sternly. He didn't like how the earth was shaking and he sure as Hades did not want to see an alien spacecraft or whatever it was appear. He already had enough stuff to deal with.
Alison did so immediately, the Doctor next. Cece hesitated for a moment, but eventually complied after a second's consideration. Kate and Hiraki were the only ones skeptical. "Just do as you're told, for goodness sake. Oh, honestly!" the Doctor grabbed both of their wrists and placed them on Nico's shoulder. "Alright, we're all ready to go."
Nico nods and takes a deep breath before they were sucked in by the shadows. It was dark and cold for a few quick seconds before they managed to make it to the helicopter. "Here we go." He says.
The Doctor, Alison, Kate, and the rest all hopped in. Suddenly, the building itself began to change shape. "Okay, minor miscalculation. The ship isn't under the building, it is the building. Let's go!" he took off. Suddenly, an orange tentacle grabbed Hiraki around the ankle. Another grabbed the helicopter, the Doctor attempted to fly away but when he noticed Hiraki- "Grab my hand!" he said, leaning out the door. Cece grabbed the controls, keeping the helicopter flying. "I'm trying!" Hiraki said. In a sudden moment, both the Doctor and Hiraki knew what would happen next. "Doctor…. please, if you meet my daughter, I want you to….." Hiraki trailed off. "No!" he shouted, as Hiraki fell to her death. "She can't… I won't let this happen!" he seized the controls from Cece, piloting them closer to Hiraki as she fell…. and closer to the deadly building.
Nico looks at the doctor, "DON'T! I'll do it! I'll shadow travel, and catch her. Just make sure to keep the helicopter in one place." He says sternly. "But there is no way in hell we are getting ourselves killed. Risking one is better than risking all." As he says that he disappears, focusing catching Hiraki.
"Nico, don't! We can't save… oh, bugger." Cece muttered. The helicopter was dragged towards the building, crashing back onto the roof. "Everyone, out!" Alison said as the vehicle began to fill with smoke.
Nico had pulled away before an orange thing grabbed at him. He managed to dodge it before landing on solid ground.
"Down! It's several stories, we don't have time to check if the others are alive, and we can't exactly jump down ourselves. Stairs are the option least likely to get us brutally murdered. I'm sorry Will, Nico is probably dead." the Doctor said. Cece helped carry Will down, but they were cut off in the now-Axos hallways. "Go back!" Kate said, but the way they came through cut them off.
(Good morning, how are you?)
Nico was barely breathing, his eyes shut, pain in his left leg. He groans softly, his dark orbs slowly opening.
"Wait, we need to go back for-" "We're kinda trapped, Alison. We can't quite 'go back' in case you've noticed." Cece snapped. Alison put her hand to her ear and pressed the communicator. "Ah, I'm going to regret this later. Robot, come pick us up!" Alison said. "Wait, Alison, don't-" the Doctor's words were drowned out as the TARDIS materialized around them. "How dare you! Conspire with my companion, undermine me even when you are absent!" the Doctor began to shout even as the walls appeared around them. "Doctor," said the Master, moving away from the console, "Miss Cheney and I just saved your life, not to mention hers. Show some gratitude." he glared. Keeping secrets," he said, "what's next, trying to ruin the Magna Carta again? More killer inflatable chairs?" the Doctor asked. "You said you wouldn't mention the first anymore, and the latter very nearly worked." said the Master, bristling with anger. "More to the point, the whole purpose of this 'plot,' as you call it, was to keep you out of harm's way. Since you're obviously not capable of doing it yourself." "You had no right-" "I simply-"
Alison and Kate watched the fight before them. "So, as far as I can tell, the Doctor is travelling with his worst enemy of all time, the Master, who is currently inhabiting an android body. That he built." Kate said. "Yup." Alison replied. "And they're…." "Yup." Alison repeated. "Damn, now I owe Sergeant Benton ten quid. Why is he always do good at guessing these things?" Kate muttered. "You UNIT folks bet on the odds of the Time Dorks being in a relationship?" Alison asked. "Yup." Kate said, watching the aforementioned Time Dorks squabble. "What else do you bet on?" Alison asked. "Oh, back in the 70's, or maybe it was the 80's, nobody's entirely sure, everyone would bet on how many flame-proof benches the Doctor would manage to ignite, or how many of Jo Grant's date nights he would 'accidentally' sabatoge. Things like that." Kate said. "Ah. That makes sense." Alison said.
"You're just worried I'll leave you alone," said the Doctor, viciously. "Have to make sure you can track my every move, pick me up if things are going too badly." he hissed. "Yes," said the Master, his voice a little high, "Yes, I don't want to be left alone. Yes, I want to make sure you don't get half-killed again, or whole-killed this time, or any time. I wonder why that might be? Maybe because someone spent quite a lot of time programming my emotion circuits, and now if I think of you dead I shut myself off because I can't deal with it calmly!?" he very nearly shouted. "Oh, so it's all about convenience to you. If you like, I'll just shut down that bit of programming, then. No need to care about me for you to function, is there?" the Doctor asked. "Yes," said the Master. "There is." Just like that, the argument broke. Alison found herself relaxing a little, even as the Doctor tensed, surprise etched across his face. "What?" said the Doctor. "Well, it wouldn't really be me, would it," said the Master, with a humorless smile. "If I wasn't willing to go to simply ridiculous lengths, just because I care about you." he smirked. "And I see, due to the lack of Mr. Di Angelo, we have another stop to make. Miss Cheney, and Misses," the Master gestured to Kate and Cece. "Captain Cece Oswald, and that's Kate Lethbridge-Stewart. Read your file, there's some good stuff in it." Cece nodded to Kate. Alison, Kate, and Cece opened aforementioned doors, and the TARDIS was piloted under Nico as he fell. "And he sticks the landing." Cece chuckled, but stopped at the glares the others shot at her. Alison watched as Nico fell into the swimming pool, which was a little farther down one of the hallways, and then rushed to help him up, assuming he would probably be quite dazed.
(Sorry for the late reply, I was a little busy. I'm back now!)
Nico sputters as he falls into the water, coughing and gagging. Oh gods… he hated water. He shivers and drags himself out of the water, accepting Alison's hand. "What took you?" He asks, brushing his now wet hair from his face. "Where's Will?" He asks, leaning over so he could catch his breath and relax.
Will was resting, holding his shoulder, since he had dislocated it when the explosion happened. He didn't really aare for the bickering between the Master and the Doctor, nor did he care about the conversation the women were having. All he really cared about at the moment was that thoughts of failure ran through his head. He was to weak to do anything to help, and he was just baggage. He hated it.
"Well, in short, Time Dorks are idiots, UNIT bets on everything, and Will is sick, and needs to have a good rest. Let's get back to the task at hand, saving the world, shall we?" Alison asked.
"Got it." He replies, shaking the water from his hair then pushing his hair back. He takes a deep breath and rolls his shoulder.
Alison walks back to the console room. "So, what do we do now?" she asked. "Axos is draining energy from a nearby nuclear power station. If it gets enough power, it'll take the world with it." the Doctor said.
Nico folds his arms. "So let's make sure it doesn't." He replies, still dripping wet but making it look fashionable.
"Ah, that's the problem. I don't exactly know how." the Doctor said. "Wait, Axos is draining the power." Cece said. "Your point being, Miss Oswald?" the Master drawled, unimpressed at Cece's stating of the obvious. "Well, let's think like Axos. Drain the power." she said. "Cece, you're a genius! Fight fire with fire! If there isn't any power to drain, Axos will be starved, destroyed! The feeding process will have gone wrong, thus triggering a sort of energy reaction." the Doctor said. He started punching buttons on the console, pressing switches. "Attention Tokyo," he said into a microphone, "turn on all your devices plugged in. Television, lights, the microwave, anything!" the Doctor said. "Erm, Doctor? Minor problem, most of Japan doesn't speak English, let alone Tokyo." Kate pointed out. "Exactly, that's what the TARDIS translation matrix is for." he said in a sort of 'well, duh' tone.
Nico raises a brow. "Or I could just say it…" He rolls his eyes.
