(Ah, okay. No problem.)
"Yes, that was sarcasm. But in truth I honestly don't care that much. When saving the world, you need to be a cold, calculating bastard. I see things on the whole, it's pointless to care about individual people if you ever want to get anything done." he said. "Now are you going to help me, or do you want to just stand there and pout?" the Doctor asked.
One on one? (Closed!)
Nico glares at the other before looking down at Will. "I'll be back for you, okay, baby?" He whispers. Will nods limply.
"Listen, we'll come back for your boyfriend later. Now help me!" the Doctor snapped.
Nico nods and hurries to the Doctor's side. Will groans softly, leaning against a wall and smiling at Nico, encouraging him to go.
"Right, come on. If you lose me, I'm most certainly not going back, so don't dawdle." he said, running out of the room.
Nico keeps after him, his mind filled with worry about Will the entire time they run.
The Doctor reaches the roof access, climbing up. "Move it!" he said, running up the stairs.
Nico was right next to him. "I'm right here."
"Good, I just noticed after about seven centuries of travelling with your kind that you usually need reminders." he said. "Doctor! Kate and Hiraki, they're both-" Alison was running up the stairs, as fast as she could, when she saw the others. "Alison, I told you to go!" the Doctor replied, but he seemed relieved at her arrival either way. "Yeah, right, let's get out of here! They're coming!" she snapped. "Who is?" the Doctor hissed. "No time to explain, bloody run will you?" she asked.
Nico looks at her. "Run? But…" he looks back towards where he had left Will. He clenches his fist before starting to run, obeying Alison.
"Right, okay, so I was running along, getting out as you said, when suddenly Kate and the Major turned into these orange tentacle-y creatures. They attacked me, so I ran, decided to go up to the roof and hopefully shake them off, and I met up with you." Alison said. Meanwhile, two creatures fitting Alison's description entered the room Will was in. They absorbed him, then left. Suddenly, Kate and the Major woke up in a dark cell next to Will… and Alison. There was a fifth, face hidden by shadows. "Hello? Who are you?" Kate asked. "Oh, I have many answers to that one." a distinctly female voice said. "This is going to take a lot of explaining…."
Nico was panicking. "Will. I left him. We have to go back." He whispers.
"No, we need to get out of here, now!" Alison says, shoving him up the stairs. "She has a point." the Doctor replied.
Nico looks over his shoulder before he runs, biting back tears.
When they got to the roof, the Doctor pointed his screwdriver at the door and it locked. "There, nobody can follow us now." he said. "Thank you, Doctor. Now there will be nobody to hear you scream." Alison's voice distorted, turning deeper, ethereal, inhuman. She transformed into a giant creature of orange tentacles, slowly drawing the two towards the edge. "Ah, so you're our friendly neighborhood Axon Duplicate. It was only a matter of time, haha. I always get chased by at least one of you lot. Now, as much as I'd like to be brutally murdered, your pals are probably holding my friends hostage instead of killing them, just in case I survive. Leverage, in short. But I'm a little busy right now, so do get out of my way before I'm forced to, you know, annihilate you." he said. "You do not kill, Doctor, we know this." the Axos creature said. "Well, you are right. Nico, grab on to me!" the Doctor said, pulling a grapple-gun out of his coat. "Where could you possibly have been hiding that?!" the creature asked. "Bigger on the inside pockets, you piece of __." the Doctor said something in an alien language that caused the beast to roar with anger. "Bye!" he shot the gun at the nearest building, swinging himself and Nico away from the Axos creature and to safety.
Nico stares at Alison with fear. "Will…" He knew something had happened to the Son of Apollo. He grabs onto the Doctor, biting his lip as they swung away.
"They've not killed them, that's for certain." the Doctor said, plugging in the device. "Now," he said, putting the helmet on, "let's begin." he turned the device on, sparks of electricity bouncing from it. He focused, turning the link off. Doctor…. your plan has failed. The children will die soon if you turn the link off. a voice in his head said. Ah, telepathy. Well, not the most fun means of communication, you can get a terrible headache after, if you even have a head. What do you mean? the Doctor asked mentally, unknowingly saying the words out loud, both his words and that of Axos. If this were a story, one might call it a plot device so that Nico could follow the conversation. The psychic link keeps them alive. They will die soon. Turn the link back on, or we shall kill your friends, one by one. Axos said. And this is why we shall win! Axos sounded triumphant. The Doctor took off the helmet, unsure what to do.
Nico watched the doctor talking with himself. He takes a deep breath, shaking a little.
"Nico, you know that travelling with me has many risks. Do you trust me?" he asked. "Do you trust me?" the Doctor had asked Alison, when they had first met and challenged the Shalka for the Earth, saving the planet in the end, but not without a few casualties. None dead, however, he remembered, except for those lava worms. "Oh, how needy are you? Yes!" Alison replied, annoyed. the Doctor laughed at this memory, before assuming a serious look once again. "I don't want anyone else to die for me, and you don't want anyone to die either, I know. Do you trust me?" he repeated.
"Ah, my head." Alison said, sitting up. "Where are we?" Hiraki asked. "Well, we're trapped in one of Axos' cells. Hopefully Will is going to wake up soon, we need to chat. Hi again, Alison. It's me, Cece." the shadowy figure said, revealing herself to be, in fact, Cece in all her scarred, miserable glory. "What happened to you?! You need medical attention!" Alison said. "Ah, torture chamber wasn't so bad. Either way, I've been here a few months, got captured almost first thing. Long story, little time. Do you have the notebook? You need to give it to me, otherwise I won't be able to mail it to my past self to…. time travel is messed up, all I'm saying." Cece grinned wearily.
Nico hesitated as he looked at the doctor before nodding slowly. "I trust you." He replies, before taking a deep breath.
"Alright. Alright. I'm going to do something incredibly foolish that will almost certainly give the enemy the upper hand, but also give us a second, slim chance at winning." he said. "Well, the link's back, happy? But before I go, here's something else, a little gift!" the Doctor shouted. He focused yet again, first sending a message to the Tokoyo city hall to barricade themselves in, and then a second signal stunning the Axons. "Run! Down the ladder, right here!" the Doctor said. "We need to get to Alison and the others."
Nico races down the stairs, ending up shadow traveling to the ground. It was faster. He had to get to Will. Alison… He takes a breath and looks at the doctor. "Your turn to trust me." He offers his hand.
"Given that this is a life or death situation, I believe I can spare a little faith in your abilities." he said, taking the hand offered.
Nico focused on Will and they were sucked into shadows. A few seconds later, they appear close to where Will last was.
"Gone. Taken, not dead. If they'd killed, the air would taste…. different. Metallic. Tangy, almost. But no. He was seen with me, and Axos drew it's own conclusions." he said, taking a small remote that also looked part radio out of his pocket. A light flashed, and it made a ding! sound. "It's my machine that goes ding when there's…. stuff. If I can triangulate the residue psychic, well, goo, sort of, invisible goo, then I can trace it back to Will, and hopefully…." he trailed off. "I have a signal! I just need to take care of one more thing…" the Doctor took a phone out of his pocket, dialing in a number. "I need the blueprints of the Shining Dawn corporation, quickly!" he said. "You could say please, my dear." the Master said, an eyeroll evident in his tone. "Fine, please. And do hurry up, I myself am in a bit of a hurry. Cheerio!" the Doctor hung up. "Now, it seems they took Will back home. Are you ready to delve into the belly of the beast? Figuratively, obviously." the Doctor turned to Nico.
Nico was pained, taking shaky breaths. He nods and looks at the doctor. "Let's go."
"Don't worry, if we die, it could have been a worse death. But we get to die with honor, so that contents me. Let's go." he said. The Doctor spotted something up on a nearby rooftop. "Nico, can you get us up there?" he asked.
"Anyways, notebook." Cece said. "Yeah, here." Alison stuttered. She handed Cece the notebook, the latter placed it in her torn jacket. Suddenly, the door swung open. "Leave this place, now." a young girl, possibly 8, said. "Who are-" "Umiko. I assume you can find your way out, I really need to leave now." she ran off. Alison stood up, looking down the direction Umiko might have gone, but there was nobody there. "Weird…." she muttered.
Nico watches him before nodding. "Grab my shoulder or something." He says as he steps into shadow.
The Doctor nodded, doing so, and they were transported to the roof. "Wonderful, that really is quite the trick. Must be a smashing hit at parties, what?" the Doctor said. "And that just so happens to be exactly what I was looking at." he said, pointing to a currently empty helicopter. "I'm sure the owners will be forgiving, it probably belongs to whatever police force they have, see the logo on the side? And we're using it to serve the greater good, so I don't think it's technically stealing so long as we give it back afterwards." he said, climbing up into the pilot's seat.
"Takes a lot of energy though." He mutters. He takes a breath. He looks at the helicopter. "Let's go."
