(lol np)
Jair was quiet, blending into the crowd, though never straying far from her.
(Sure lol)
RP? One on One
Kana walked over to Jair with an obvious fake smile. When she was close enough for her to hear him, she muttered, "this place is just crawling with snobs. I'm so sorry I drug you out here."
Jair laughed softly. "It's alright." He replied with a small smile. "It's my job." He had noticed, too, that only some of the ambassadors had darker skin like his, and that many of the nobility cast him sidelong glances. He didn't care, though. Not too much.
She took a deep breath, wondering how she should make it up to him. "Are you having fun, at least?"
He raised an eyebrow. "Fun is not the goal here. The goal, for me, is to keep you safe. Are you aware there were three separate poisoned drinks? Two of which someone else drank, and they are now at the healer's vomiting so that the poison doesn't kill them. The third I took and dumped on one of the potted plants."
She looked surprised. "Really? Well, that's a lot more exciting" she smiled, trying to lighten the mood. "Say, um. Jair?"
He chuckled softly. "Yes?" He asked, looking at her. His dark hair was held back in a small ponytail.
"Would you like to dance with me?" She tried not to seem nervous, but failed miserably
Jair smiled slightly. "Uhm…I'm not sure that's a wise decision, Kana."
"Because you're not nobility, right?" Her smile faded and she thought about it for a while.
"Yes." He replied quietly. "And because I am your guard, and the exact nature of that relationship is already being called into question by members of your court."
A mischevious look filled her eyes. "So what? They've already made fun of me enough. I want to dance with you."
Jair sighed softly. "Fine. One dance, Kana." He said with a small smile.
Kana's eyes lit up and a big smile was plastered on her face. "Really? Oh, thank you, Jair!" Her voice became a little squeaky, but not to the point where it was annoying.
He laughed softly. "Don't thank me, your highness." He replied, his voice carrying a warning tone. He gently reached out and led her onto the dance floor. "You can't thank me like that." He said softly. "I'm just a guard. You'll make people wonder, and the last thing you or i need is someone thinking I'm only your guard because you like me and/or what's in my pants. Forgive my crassness." He spoke quietly enough that only she could hear him.
Kana's face fell. She bit the inside of her lip and mumbled, "Who cares about them anyway?" She wasn't sure if Jair could hear or not. Either way, she didn't care. She was starting to lose her patience with people always telling her to be proper and act like a queen. Sure, she knows that she has to act like a queen when it calls for it, but constantly being told to act like a perfect doll was getting old. "Sorry, Jair."
"It's okay. It's just…the wrong rumor has the potential to harm both of us, in ways you might not even realize." He said quietly, leading her into the dance. He had one hand on her hip, the other holding her hand gently. His hands were calloused, and a little rough, from all his training.
"You're right as always," she softly sighed. A smile quickly returned to her face, however. She had always wanted to be close to Jair and not in a life or death situation.
He smiled slightly. "Always?" He echoed with a bit of a teasing tone. There was a small strands of hair that had escaped, hanging down across his forehead.
She grinned and slightly shook her head. "Almost always," she corrected herself.
Jair chuckled. "Mm, going back on your words now, are you?" He asked teasingly.
She chuckled softly. "So what if I am?"
He smiled, and shrugged, spinning her slightly.
Kana smiled. I'm actually enjoying myself! She ignored a few of the stares from members of the court. It's been so long since I've been this happy. Let them stare.
Jair smiled lightly, seeming not to notice that he'd pulled her even closer than before.
(WHAT DOES DO DURING DANCE)
"Now are you having fun?"
(uhm…look up classical waltzs and stuff bc that's what im assuming they're doing. As for what they do…most talk with their partners, kiss (sometimes), or just dance. Idk really depends on the two dancers)
He shrugged. "Fun is subjective." He replied.
She rolled her eyes. "Well, are you enjoying yourself?"
He chuckled. "Sure."
She beamed at him. "I'm glad!"
