Kanoa giggled, "If you can beat me in a pillow fight!"
“Deal.” She grinned.
"Then let's buy this dress, get the party over with, and then have a sleepover!" Kanoa squealed.
Laurie grinned, bouncing on the balls of her feet. “It’s teally fun, having a friend.”
"I know right!" Kanoa grabbed Laurie's hand and led her over to the register, "We can be best friends!"
“Really?! We can?”
Kanoa pumped her fist and swiped her card with the other one, a determined gleam in her eyes, "HECK YEAH!"
Laurie had never been happier. “I’ve never had.a best friend before… Are there any rules?”
"Nope!" Kanoa handed Laurie the dress and checked her watch. "We should get ready, the party's in two hours." she smiled at Laurie, "Do you go to a college?"
Laurie shook her head. “I live in a dumpster, remember? No money whatsoever since I ran away.”
"Well, you should apply to my college." Kanoa smirked, "Not to brag, but um, we have some pretty cool people there. Like me!"
“What are you studying?”
"Potions." Kanoa smiled, "It's fun, but hard too."
“What exactly is it?”
Kanoa ran a hand through her hair, "I put in a bunch of stuff to make something else."
Does it involve magic?”, Laurie asked, curious.
"Yeah, but not much. I've heard of muggles doing it." Kanoa laughed, "I mean human, but like, Harry Potter! I just call them muggles."
Aaaah I LOVE HP)
Laurie tilted her head. “Who’s Harry Potter?”
"A famous wizard in a book." Kanoa walked next to Laurie, "You should read it sometime."
“I—I’m not so good with reading. I never went to school.”
Kanoa patted Laurie's shoulder, "Then I'll read it to you."
Laurie’s smile widened. “Really? Could—could you maybe teach me a bit too?”
"Yep." Kanoa smiled, "Maybe there's a spell for learning fast?"
Laurie nodded enthusiastically as they collected their buys.
Kanoa smiled, "Now let's go try on some dresses and go to a party and SLAYYY!!"
Laurie laughed, following her and mounting a broom.
They took off, with Pauka grumbling about needing new goggles.
When they landed at Kanoa’s house, Laurie hopped off her broom, handling the precious dress carefully. “Th-That was fun! Thanks you.”
"No need to thank me, but Pauka would like a treat for his congeniality." Pauka scattered up Laurie's arm and perched at her shoulder, holding his hands out for a prize.
