Haresh Meghani, the patriarch of the Meghanis and the ruler of Serothyn, wanted to create a hybrid person of two classes. Specifically, of an Angel and an Oracle, because although Oracles are universally despised, it was because the others believed they were too powerful. The Clairvoyant’s DNA was incompatible with his, so he went with the next best thing, another Angel. He found a woman named Ichika Ouma, a soldier in the Meghani army of great skill and mind, and chose her for his experiment. The Meghani’s best scientists used Haresh and Ichika’s DNA and created an artificial fetus. Once the fetus was fully developed, Haresh tasked Ichika with raising the baby and watching for when their abilities developed. The baby, named Koshiro, developed Angel abilities at the age of 7, and the Oracle abilities followed some months later. Around this time, though Koshiro had been assigned male, they had begun to ask others around her to refer to her with female pronouns and to address her as Kokoro. Around the time she would have hit puberty, she was given hormone blockers, initiating her gender transition process. Her wings and hair were also dyed in order to attract less attention whenever she was seen in public with the rest of the family. At the same time, she was given education and training with her powers under Ichika’s care. At 14, Kokoro’s training took a turn into the skills she would need as a super soldier, in turn becoming more intense. Once she reached the age of 18, Kokoro was given a list of names and tasked with finding the people on the list so that they could be experimented on and/or become hybrids themselves.
