Thanatos' name comes from the God of Death in Greek Mythology. Notably, the figure he's named after was susceptible to deception, as he was tricked by King Sisyphus of Korinith into being binded by his own chains, which meant that mortals weren't able to die for a whole day until he was released from his bondage by the Olympians.
This gives a small amount of insight to Thanatos' being, as he was built with the capability

Official construction of the OBLIQUA began March 15, 2089 under the PentaCore Conglomerate's finest and brightest minds. It was designed to be the perfect Stagnator, preventing any and all movement from lower Calibers to Caliber S by creating an ever evolving champion capable of putting down any threat to the PCC that could arise, both in the Arena and in usual operations once the 2099 Series was finally concluded, and the Wave 2 Alkaline Games was to begin.
The then CEO of the PCC, Marcus Arceneaux was extremely worried that some day, his stint as the PCC's leader would end several years than expected, and thus devoted exorbitant amounts of funds and resources from Ore pits under the guise that tensions were escalating between the PCC and a league of ruling corporations in the south.
The OBLIQUA's various parts were

• The OBLIQUA would be deployed in the final match with the surviving champions, in lieu of two Terror Ten units, which were killed in an attempted ambush of the Psychopomp, the Dealbreakers, and the Workers' Union. This was the final "test' so to speak for the OBLIQUA. If it was successful here, it would be able to win the Alkaline Games, and by extension use its newly gained Qionic abilities to supercede the consciousness of 90% of the PCC's Mecharus population and lead the PCC's invasion of surrounding corporate territory.
  It engaged Fetor, Oil Jack, Exactor, Overkill, Cassandra, Iphigenia, Arach, Ix, Monogon, Iylis, Laughter Jacket, and Io in the final Alkaline Games match, alongside allies that the ANNOUNCER failed to account for. The Larval Stage was able to kill [???] [???] [???], but it was bisected by illegally smuggled Bunker Annihlator explosives, splitting it into three portions of itself. Each of the champions would fight off one of the three sections, which unexpectedly continued to function as their own units.

• Circa the year 2199, Thanatos and his faction the Mechavius would still hold the incredibly dubious and disturbing honor of killing the most amount of people with Po-210.
  Even by this time, excess radiation damage from the initial blast can be found affecting the few descendants of those inflicted. Cancer, sporadic mutations, and premature death have all been spotted in major population centers in large quantities.

• I have around 11 characters in the Nanitus WIP that I’ve toggled on the favorite button (star), these would be Ares, Cassandra, Dreadnaught, Blowstick, Iphigenia, Duplicitor, Overkill, Io, Xerxes, and of course Thanatos himself, as he’s the first prominent antagonist.
  For some silly reason, my brain went “It would be great if we did the second most prominent character in the first half of the WIP last!”, and so I worked on pretty much the rest of the cast first; filling in their personalities, relationships, quirks, and backstory before ever getting to filling out the rest of Thanatos’ page. The only other pages this neglected in Nanitus were characters solely created because I thought they had a cool gimmick, a cool name, or I just simply needed more cannon fodder for the Arena like Gorillus, Red Light, Bone Plower, and many more that aren’t public (as of now anyway).
