Sector 1.0

Type

Covert Subterranean Corporate Testing Ground

Description

A secret region in the First Sector in the Heaven's Tomb Corporate Mecharus Repostory Center.
Like the others, it was created during the manufacture of Heaven's Tomb. Due to personal preference in one of its affiliate corporations, Sector 1 was constructed first, with the rest coming in numerical order.
This portion of Sector 1 was designed to serve as testing grounds for the PentaCore Conglomerate (PCC), as they required a secret location for their secret projects. Projects that they could never let the world discover and copy for themselves. Namely the grotesque process of Biotechnological Fabrication.
The few that knew of Sector 1.0's existence were horrified by its doings and excited by its potential.

Population

  • In its earlier operations, Sector 1.0 was only home to less than a hundred, many of whom were test subjects under Contract-enforced ownership by either the Executive Division, the Science Division, or unaffiliated individuals.
The remaining populace was exclusively composed of the owners of said individuals.

  • In its later years, Sector 1.0 was inhabited by less than two hundred individuals, with only a minority of them being Mechs or humans not enlisted in the rampant Contract system.
Only around ninety individuals were affiliated with the Science Division, Executive Division, or unaligned.

  • After the fall of the PCC, Sector 1.0 was home to less than fifty individuals. These individuals were largely those that wanted to escape the new hegemony of Mechavius Alliance Mechs, who threatened them with Repurposing if they interfered with the Project.
These numbers dipped even lower when the Conglomerate Triadne seized the ruins of Heaven's Tomb, capturing many of them and forcing the rest to flee either above ground or deeper into the planet.

Timeline of Events

Notable Wars

  • Sector 1.0 was a key point of interest for the many factions that resided in Heaven's Tomb. All four of the Rebellions had at least one faction whose interest was piqued by Sector 1.0 and its heretical secrets.

  • Along with this, Sector 1.0 was a tactically enticing location for the factions that partook in the Tenth War due to its advanced corporate technology.

Established Year

  • Sector 1.0 was established at the same time as its parental structure Heaven's Tomb in the year 2032.
Like the full structure, Sector 1.0 was operational long before its slated opening in the year 2039, leading to all sorts of activity happening in the testing grounds. Illegal or not.

Founding Story

  • Sector 1.0 was commissioned by the Arceneux Division of the PentaCore Conglomerate during the creation of their Mecharus Stronghold, Heaven's Tomb.
The motives for Sector 1.0's creation were inspired by a new company-wide policy known as "Tous Les Moyens", translated to English as "All Means".
This policy was created in order to boost the PentaCore Conglomerate's scientific advancement by any means necessary. In service to this ideal, they mechanized Estelle, the daughter of a powerful executive via the process of Biotechnological Fabrication, a method in which a suitable mind is transplanted to a body compatible with PentaCore Augments designed to turn flesh into Ore. In other words, make metal from man.
Tous Les Moyens would also inspire the PentaCore Conglomerate to enact more questionable experiments in pursuit of progress and profit. These included more instances of Biotechnological Fabrication, an attempt to weaponize Qionic Resonance in their Mecharus, and a new program courtesy of the Arceneux Division that revolved around the creation of deadly nanites that could consume their enemies and assimilate their data as well.

History

  • After Estelle was processed as IA-01, otherwise known as I-10, scientific operations within Sector 1.0 were solidified as hideous sins against nature that should never be recreated by the population of large in Heaven's Tomb.
However, this doesn't mean that nobody tried to access its secrets. As a matter of fact, many individuals have attempted to access Sector 1.0 in order to loot its knowledge, either for themselves or for others.
These include the Triune, a clandestine group composed of conspirators in the Science Division, Peace Division, and the underground movement NEUROTOR along with individuals formerly affiliated with the PCC. Independent Freelancers have also been sighted here.
While the PentaCore Conglomerate had conducted efforts to weed out these interlopers, they wouldn't prove successful until they were weakened by external forces.

  • Later on, Sector 1.0 was targeted for occupation by one of the factions who kick-started the Second Rebellion, the Intellans.
While they failed in securing Sector 1.0, the Intellans were successful in obtaining corporate information and tech from the testing grounds.
This is when the Triune, the head of the Intellans proved to their comrades the existence of Mecharus created by Biotechnological Fabrication, and by extension their capability to weaponize the Nanitus project that the PCC were developing to liberate their kind.
The Intellans selected several candidates from the IA line of Biotechnologicals: IA-01, IA-22, IA-21, IA-13, IA-05, and IA-06 to name a few of the candidates.
In particular, the members of the Triune, Hypnos, Monogon, and Xerxes took interest in IA-22, IA-13, and IA-01 respectively.

  • After the failures of both the Twofold Rebellion and the Threefold Rebellion, the insurrectionists that inspired the rabble of the Worker Division had to negotiate shared ownership of Sector 1.0.
The newly restructured Science Division was to have sole access to the eastern portion of Sector 1.0 while the newly reinforced Executive Division was in charge of the remaining sections of Sector 1.0, which included the Data Storage Units and dead Biotechnological Mecharus, much to the ire of the Science Division.
The Science Division was the sole power in the new society of Heaven's Tomb that had direct access to Sector 1.0.
All other Divisions had to obtain authorization via a Contract from the Executive Division, and thanks to the conditions of the Truce Contract, the newly rebranded Peace Division and Medical Division were the only divisions of the new Mecharus Government that were free to use Sector 1.0's knowledge as they saw fit, as the other divisions were only permitted to carry out limited use of Sector 1.0 intel via an elaborate Contract system.
