As a virtuoso, Ruby has a knack for learning instruments. By the end of the story, she can expertly play the piano, violin, and harp, and is capable with the flute, oboe, and clarinet. She composes her own symphonies, and she dreamed of her music being played by Hyrule's famous orchestra.

Ruby is a curious child who was raised in a precarious situation. She knows that she doesn't share a father with her siblings and that her mother committed an indiscretion, but nonetheless, she's as happy-go-lucky as any child and wants for nothing. While she is lonely, having to stay inside the house most of the time to cover up her existence, she compensates for this with music. Thanks in part to her Moonchild genetics, she is very intelligent and a virtuoso; she learned how to play the piano at three years old, and the violin by seven. By 10, she started to compose her own music, and by her 20s, she became the first female conductor in the Hyrule Kingdom Philharmonic.

Ruby was conceived as a result of an affair between her widowed mother and a man from the House of Moonchild who was half her mother's age. To avoid the scandal, her mother and father decided to part ways, and that she was to be raised away from prying eyes. Ruby was told the truth of her parentage as soon as she was able to understand, so she knows well enough to know the reason why she's hardly allowed outside. She started to play and write music to cope with her loneliness, and eventually went on to become a famous composer and conductor, and the first of her gender to be recognized for her work.
