Overview
Hylian
The most common and ancient race of Hyrule, they believe themselves to be the descendants of and are named for the Goddess Hylia.
Looks
The average weight is between 120-150 pounds.
The average female is 5 feet 4 inches, and the average male is 5 feet 6 inches.
Skin colors range from pale white to dark brown, almost black.
They come in all varieties of shapes and sizes that are comparable to humans.
Hylians typically wear tunics, trousers, dresses, robes, jackets, cloaks, sandals, boots, belts, and earrings.
Hylians can vary greatly, from short and stocky, to tall and thin and everything in between and beyond.
The most notable feature is their elongated, pointed-tipped, elf-like ears.
Traits
They are very full of themselves and often think they are the best of all the races because they are of Hylia. Outclassed physically by the other races.
The Hylians are the most average of all the races physically, but they are known for their ability to adapt to any climate, change, and disaster with their uncanny knack for making tools.
Culture
The Hylians believe in the Goddess Hylia and Her power, and that She created the Hyrule. Belief, or even knowledge, in the original Golden Goddess is increasingly rare among them.
The Hylians are known for their love of alcohol, so many of their celebrations involve it.
While not as religious as their ancestors, they still adhere to their faith in Hylia and revere Her enough to incorporate Her into several holidays and meaningful rituals.
See Holiday chart for more info.
Rice is the staple food of the Hylians, and many dishes involve it. The most famous Hylian dish is the rice ball, often stuffed with meat and vegetables. Soups and stews are a runner-up, simple and cheap to make for even the poorest, and very filling.
The Kingdom of Hyrule is wealthy with resources, and the people enjoy the benefits of such. Even the poorest and most vulnerable of the Hylians enjoy a degree of security over most other races.
The most common occupation is farming and husbandry, but they are also known to be excellent craftsmen and shopkeepers, and their military is unparalleled.
Steel is the Hylians' greatest contribution to the world. Their metalwork is unmatched by any other, and have used their knowledge of weaponry to create their ultimate weapon: the multi-fire cannon.
The Hylians all follow the monarchy of the Royal Family, and have for countless generations. Currently, the monarchy is limited with a council of 10 high court judges that each preside over a district of the kingdom.
Outlying Hylians follow simpler local governments that usually consist of a mayor or magistrate that defaults to the monarchy.
