Pre-memory wipe he hated Phin with passion for bullying him when he was younger. This hatred caused him to loose sight of his models. But after he lost his memory they actually got along rather well

Phineas had teased Atticus since they were in the third grade. He learned to be strong but never to let go of his anger.
Once they reached high school Phin gave up on harassing Atticus and instead left him alone. Instead of accepting the situation Atticus decided to take advantage of the situation and retaliate on Phin. Teasing him just as Phin had done to him.
Through a series of detailed events their battling escalated and ended in the injuring of several people along with the death of Phin's younger brother who intervened.
After that, they were taken into custody and instead of being punished they had their minds mostly erased as part of an experimental project. And that is where our story begins

At. Steward- "I feel terrible that everyone there had to experience this. I hope Phineas will be alright."

At. Steward- "My mom's a nurse. She's probably busy. But you can call my dad."
